Kaptein_Damli Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Have anyone of you tried the great sim iL2 1946? It is a compilitation of all the expansionspack followed by iL2 Sturmovik. Very nice FM, great graphics due to the fact that it is based on a game from 2001. (Love the fpsfriendly three thingy they have done, look great from above.) It has a good helpful community like ours, but they not welcome modders..Itґs because the code of the game is locked and not allowed to modify. I got a warning just asking of changing machinegunssounds. I didnґt know. Anyway, the game is really hard, and the actual flying is much more harder than Lock On as you have to deal with superchargers, prop.pitch, radiators, WEP boost etc etc. Lots of things to control and master. It is very nice when you get the hang of it! I picked the game up cheap and have lots of fun with it offline at first. Some of the manuveurs and flying can make you a better Lock On pilot, but dogfighting is a more "slow pace" than Lock On. You frankly donґt move that fast in comparison! :) My moviemaking channel at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RobertDamli
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hey Kaptein! Yes, I also fly IL2 1946. I just updated to 1946 at Circut City for only $9.99 I think. I love it because you can fly a ton of aircraft.
Kusch Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Very nice FM FM? LOL god joke  Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
ANGST Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I thought we all played that :) The only 3 combat flight sims that are in anyway "current" and worth playing are LOMAC, IL-2 , and Falcon 4.0 AF
Vekkinho Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I tried IL-2 Sturmovik simulator and I'm pretty sure no plane there can perform Cobra (LOL). It's a good game, I started with Pacific Fighters standalone and I liked it very much so I decided to buy entire spectre of Sturmovik series. So far I've got Il-2, Ace Exansion Pack and Pacfic Fighters installed but I must confess I haven't played it for a year now. I'd like to get my hands on 1946 but I also heard that 1946 kinda strays away from realism, being able to fly testbeds and not so real prototypes that you can't put your finger on and say for sure if it ever existed. The one thing that IL-2 bestowed me with is energy mangament. You have to carefully manage your energy cause buliding up speed and angels ain't that easy as in LO. In LO we usually burn a lot of fuel to regain upper hand and that's where IL-2 comes handy. It simply tells you how to avoid power loss. After flying IL-2 series, flying LO is more efficient... The_GOZR Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Well The IL2 is more like SU25T FM.. The rest F15 SU27 mig 29 etc.. are far behind IL2... witch is older as well.. and the view of the cockpit is also far better. It is a very different era.
crazyeddie Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Love them both, they are very different but probably the 2 best flight sims around. The Mission Builder in IL2 is brilliant, you can see everything exactly where you place it as you place it and you can creats some first class landscapes easily, how I wish we could do that in LoMac. Not a great fan of Falcon 4 - graphics are poor compared to the other 2 but agree the Cockpit is superior in many ways, so it has its fans too. Of the three - LoMac must be the best, hardest to Mission Build, hardest to Fly but overall with all these staggering new add ons coming along it just gets better and better. Great sim, great community, great fun.
Kusch Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 The one thing that IL-2 bestowed me with is energy mangament. SuperKungFu Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 "current" and worth playing are LOMAC, IL-2 , and Falcon 4.0 AF Cross out AF and add Open Falcon or Free Falcon 4 hehe *runs away before flame war begins* [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zaelu Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I'd like to get my hands on 1946 but I also heard that 1946 kinda strays away from realism, being able to fly testbeds and not so real prototypes that you can't put your finger on and say for sure if it ever existed. Is not like it modifies IL-2 to fly like a Su-25 you know... It just adds some new planes (jets or rocket propelled) that are not played too much online. 1946 also adds new maps and statick objects. IL-2 has two strong points: - great full mission builder (not perfect but...) that allows comunity to play virtual wars like this: http://war.by-airforce.com/index.php - great and colorful comunity It's what keeps it alive after so many years. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
Kaptein_Damli Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 FM? LOL god joke  Sorry, but I did not find that funny?! FM=Flight Modelling or did I mis something here? :) My moviemaking channel at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RobertDamli
Geier Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Sorry, but I did not find that funny?! FM=Flight Modelling or did I mis something here? :) Yes, you 're right:thumbup: He just meant that AFM level for Su25/T is much better than simple FM in Il2. But... I've been playing il2 since 2001 and Lo since 2003( of course since Flanker 2.5 2001) and I can say with confidence - FM in Il2 is more realistic than SFM in LO;)
Kusch Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 FM model from IL1946 should be adopted to BS or next sim project. UBI should put together that two great sims in one FM model and one Great Ulitimate Sim Label. Then we all shoud commit collective suicide. Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!

GGTharos Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 No, it shouldn't. ED has already developed AFM. Why would they want IL2's FM? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
The_GOZR Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Tharos what is the "Developed" meaning in the AFM ? Can they actually act on it seriously ? Why not extend the AFM to the other FIEW planes.. And it is not that hard to do when there is already a model made.. WHy the refusal to make the fiew other planes act like planes and not like "scripted flying train"? Lockon planes None AFM are the only aircrafts in the sims that can be flown by keyboard only no need of Pedals rudders trims....
The_GOZR Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Why wont they ? Do they think we wont mind? or maybe we don't know? It is not the data or code excuse for sure... so what is it..? How can they lets a sim grow old with out even thinking on making the planes AFM ? What the programmers do for Years... ? Why this stall for such a longtime ? No weather changes, No online weather effects or turbulences, no AFM, no new clouds and sky as weather changes like above.. what to program about ? bullets deflections? the KA50 ? The only plane with AFM is a frog acting like a flying cow.. :) ( Humor related to a kid story) But ???????? ( Pleasant to fly actually ) i can imagine all planes like this and it would be 1000 % better
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 What the programmers do for Years... ? Why this stall for such a longtime ?:megalol: Yea, those lazy &^$! Sitt'in around, sipp'in espresso's all day!
GGTharos Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Maybe when you write your own simulator GOZR, you will be able to answer these questions; I sure don't know the answers to them :D ED has other things to do that preclude it from applying AFM to existing aircraft. They want to do things right, and that takes time. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

GGTharos Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I know nothing about Oleg, nor do I care ;) That it to say, I could not possibly answer your question. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Geier Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I know nothing about Oleg, nor do I care ;) That it to say, I could not possibly answer your question. Of course, I'm not asking you about the OM's CI))) Maybe some conclusions basing on SimHQ?:)
The_GOZR Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Tharos if you don't know just say it " I don't know" no need to evasly comment.. :) Well actually I do work on FM .. And you ? :D
