Problems with Windows 10 1809 update

Thanks for that, BitMaster.

Curious what caused this issue in the first place though...?

Man I am having exactly the same problem..for a fraction of second everything seem to be slow down....it really kills the immersion....

you could try this one and check the results, what are your pc specs?

Have you tried setting processor and ram speeds to stock? I noticed on same programs that the number of faults per second go up as I ramp up my processor and ram speed. Try slowing both down 100hz.

Thanks for the additional suggestions, guys. I'll check on the Spectre/Meltdown settings, but it might be a while. Need to find the time to re-install 1903, and I'm tied up with work this week then out of town over the weekend. Silly me, I got so frustrated after the problem persisted after the clean install of 1903, I re-imaged my machine back to 1803 without taking an image backup of 1903. Had I done that, I could have easily switched back and forth between the two. Will do that next time for sure...

If you encounter problems, I would certainly not image a broken install and reuse it. Always start fresh from a clean media, USB or DVD, made with media creation tool from MS, or have mct make an ISO and use in Sardu or any USB tool of your choice ( I use Sardu a lot ) and start with a fresh install.

Once it is running as intended, make a backup with your preferred backup solution.

FYI, Asus offers a new Intel Chipset driver which I installed a few days ago, ever since I run into various USB problems if more than mouse + kb are connected. It either has a BSOD or locks up after resuming from Standby with no option to input, kb will work ONCE to CTRL-ALT-DEL and then also the kb locks up...very starnge.

I think my own 10 cries for a reinstall. 10 and especially 1903 seems to have more problems than previously acknoledged. The chipset driver is not really compatible with 1903 as some tech sites say, Intel knows, MS knows, nothing happens.

I am so sick of 10

The only good part about it, the rig still performs great, if it doesnt BSOD or lock-up now..waahaa what a nightmare

Sorry it's been a while everyone, you know, life and all that... BUT, I wanted to report back that Microsoft forced me to update to 1903, build 18362.356 last night. I was sure I was going to have to reimage my machine back to 1803 like I've had do to for the last year or so, but the dreaded surging issue was GONE, smooth as silk. Unfortunately, I have no idea what fixed it. I've updated DCS multiple times since my last post, and perhaps 18362.356 was a more recent Windows build number. There was something else new that cropped up after this most recent Windows update. I was getting an error message after bootup stating that module LogiLDA.dll was missing (Logitech Download Assistant). I don't use Logitech devices on this machine any longer so I have no idea why this was cropping up. Went into Task Manager and disabled the service, then deleted the registry startup key for that software. The system is running clean, DCS is great, life is grand. Thanks again to all of you that tried to assist me with this strange performance issue, but for the time being it seems to have worked itself out!

Still, there are plenty bugs in current versions MS can't seem to solve, it's like fix this but break that.

The more you read Hard&Software news, the more you read about this, just like today...the good ol' START Button corruption seems to be back with one of the latest 1903 updates for some users.
