whkinsey Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Trying to determine if I am doing something wrong. Run carrier takeoff training mission and quickly reach 300kts shortly after leaving carrier. Land on carrier and takeoff, takes forever to reach 300kts. Run ground takeoff mission and get same results. First takeoff reach 300kts very quickly, any other thing I try, it takes forever. What am I doing wrong?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 25, 2019 ED Team Posted July 25, 2019 Hi, If you attach a track replay showing the issue we can take a look. You can save a track after you press escape during the debrief window. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? What am I doing wrong? Are you re-arming / refueling? Are you adding more fuel than you initially took off with? Different weapons? Reset trim on ground?
kengou Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Sounds like your flaps might still be down? That will slow you down plenty. whkinsey Posted July 25, 2019 Author Posted July 25, 2019 (edited) Thanks for replying. No, not rearming or refueling. Flaps set appropriately. Has anyone else noticed this happening? I will work on attaching a track. Edited July 25, 2019 by whkinsey
Swordsman422 Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Does your keymap have a button for the afterburner detent that you might be accidentally pressing?
tobyeez Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Me and some of my friends found the same issue in a multiplayer mission we used. Seems after the latest patch the f18 became sluggish. One of my friends found that somehow the mission was put into "Game" mode or something like that. He had to change it back to simulation. This has never happened before until latest patch.
tobyeez Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 None the less the latest patch did something to the F18 because all of the other planes worked fine.
Hog_No32 Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Did a mission last night where I took off from the carrier, delivered some ordnance and refuelled and rearmed at an airbase. I didn‘t notice any differences in performance after the second takeoff. Whenever I land and takeoff again and regardless whether I refuelled/rearmed or not, I always press the FCS RESET and TO TRIM buttons and keep them depressed for a second or two, set Flaps to half, check TO trim is correct on the FCS page and I never have any issues.
whkinsey Posted July 25, 2019 Author Posted July 25, 2019 (edited) I will have to checkout that game mode vs simulation mode thing. I had thought about that but forgotten to follow up. I will post a following. Thanks for the info! Edited July 25, 2019 by whkinsey
whkinsey Posted July 25, 2019 Author Posted July 25, 2019 Problem, or at least my problem, solved. Yes in the Options section, I had Game Flight Mode checked. Soon as I unchecked this, thrust was the same as I experienced in the training flights. This may be intended by the designers, I don't know. Thanks everyone for the help! Cheers!
