Switch to W10: DCS don't run with modules HELP!

HI

 

 

After the switch of the Oculus Software in W10 only, I've made the switch to W10 and DCS don't want to run. It just accepts the free modules.

 

 

 

Help needed from ED !

But I have still an issue: I had the Release and the beta in a offline mode. I can't switch on on line mode. So I've executed the .reg ( execpt persian gulf and F-14 that I can't find) but I can't switch online to reactivate.

Can you elaborate? .. I use my Rift CV1 under Windows 8.1 and dont want to be forced to move to Windows 10, so I'm worried now :(

Nothing to be afraid of re DCS .

1: make sure you're in online mode before the switch .

2: deactivate modules ( particularly the old starforce ones) before the switch , and reactivate them after .

 

Seems that I've read support will soon be stopped for Win 8 , so you may not have a choice....

True that . I HATE Oculus forced updates ! The only thing i use my pc for is DCS , and the only time i boot it is when i wish to fly-only to be prevented from doing so by an update that has absolutely nothing to offer me :(

If it wasn't for DCS this 5k€ rig in my sig would either be a 2nd MacBookPro or a 27" iMac.

 

 

This windows based rig produces more work than 5 Macs ever could, hands down. In 7 years that I use Mac for my daily stuff, it never had those issues that my Win7/10 produce in a repeatable manner.

 

When I got my 1st Mac people and friends asked me why. My answer was and still is:

 

At freaking 5pm I dont wanna be my own admin for 1h to have a working machine. Those windows rigs need a LOT of maintenance to perform great and stay safe.

 

If I push a MS Mouse, I am either gaming or getting paid for. For my own pleasure, reading news, amazon, ebay, YT, email, Photos(!)...I use a Mac and am just happy. No stupid BS distracting me.

 

If many more would use Macs at home, many many IT guys could quit their job, incl.me.

+1 see my signature: I use a Mac for work and the Windows machine is just for DCS & gaming .. Windows is really a joke with regards to reliability

 

 

... but even so, Windows 10 is even more of a joke than Windows 8.1 ... so I will refrain from "downgrading" to Windows 10 as much as possible.

I've solved the issue

 

 

 

 

It was the W10's firewall fault

 

 

DCS.exe was blocked by defender to acces to the web. So I could go out.

I've desactivated temporally the firewalll and all worked fine after.

 

 

 

As I launch my DCS by launching DCS.exe and not update.exe.

If someone knows how specifying to the W10 integrated firewall to allow a specific program to go on line ?

You need to pay attention to the FWs popup when you open any new app 1st time. Allow the app by clicking YES to the popup window. For DCS there will be 2 popups iirc.

 

You can go to the FW Cpanel and still allow DCS. Exe and the updater executible.

 

Google and yt have plenty guides
