Hello,

I found a bug with the ark 9.

So I made a mission with a Mi8 (hot start) in senaki (With no meteo, no wind...)

The outter ADF is 335Khz and I have no problem to catch it.

After that, i add 2kts of wind in my mission (Only this addition).

Now, with wind, I am not able to catch the ADF !! It don't work ! And i only add 2Kts of wind.

Airport tested (Thanks @Wolf5) :

Batumi; Kobuleti; Senaki; Kutaisi; Sukhumi; Gudauta; Maykop

Airport where the adf is not working (With wind)

Kobuleti; Senaki; Gudauta

Maybe there are more airport impacted.

So it's seems that, adding some meteo, broke some ADF !

Well at least the ILS beacons go offline if the wind changes and the opposite runway becomes active instead of the one having an ILS transmitter. Maybe it's the same thing with NDBs?

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Maybe it's what cause the problem but I am in senaki so, if it's the left or right beacon, i would be able to catch it !

Senaki-Kolkhi has ILS and Inner/Outer Marker beacons only for RWY 09.

If ATC switches to RWY 27, the ILS and it's associated markers for RWY 09 turn off.

Note: There is a bug in DCS 2.5.x Caucasus where, for light 1-6 knot head winds, the ILS (and markers) may turnoff for the active ATC runway.

In senaki (For example), it don't work !! You can put the wind to have the RW09 in service, the outer beacon don't work (Same for inner)

Here's a short track, where I tune in the ARC-9 to Senaki Markers with wind set at 7 knots (3.6 m/s) towards 272°.

If it doesn't play (perhaps because I own the NS430 and you don't), you could perhaps rename the .trk to .miz and test the mission yourself.

Note: IIRC the wind needs to be +3.5 m/s to be sure the markers/NDBs work correctly for the active runway.

It's still a bug as we can't choose the wind speed.

So at Senaki (to keep the same exemple), wind 0m/s towards 272°. NDB work and active runway is 09.

Set the wind to 1 or 2m/s, NDB doesn't work.

Set to 3m/s, it work again.

What's the purpose to make NDB active/inactive between 0 and 3m/s without changing the wind heading ?

I found a bug with the ark 9.

The bug isn't related to the ARC-9

Note: There is a bug in DCS 2.5.x Caucasus where, for light 1-6 knot head winds, the ILS (and markers) may turnoff for the active ATC runway.

It is 2.5.x related and effects all modules that use ILS, PRMG or the inner/outer markers.

I never said it wasn't a bug, I said it was.

What's the purpose to make NDB active/inactive between 0 and 3m/s without changing the wind heading ?

The 2.5.x bug turns the ILS\PRMG and markers on/off differently to ATC's active runway for light headwinds (1-6 knots), I don't think it's deliberate, rather it's a WIP bug.

It's likely ED consider it a low priority bug as it was reported shortly after 2.5.x was released (21st Feb 2018 ) and it's still present 18 months later.

As part of ED's long term plans, they want to improve ATC, so perhaps they're hoping to fix it then ?

AFAIK there's no time scale for when that might happen.

the bug is reproductible with a L39 so not really a Mi8 bug !

I said that also ;) I only have the Mi8 so I thought it was the arc 9 in first !

More than one years for a bug like that and still present !! it's annoying :(:(

Thanks all for your reply !

bump... 2 m/s wind in Kobuleti and stumbled across this. RW07 active, but no OM / IM working.

After reading this post, increased windspeed to 4 m/s and markers are online.

This issue isn't specific to ARK-9.

I've just run a few tests with the Huey and I get identical results. This is what I found out:

  • All NDB beacons are fine whatever the wind strength and direction.
  • All DB beacons are disabled whenever the wind comes from the DB beacon towards the runway.
