markturner1960 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Hi, I know you can do this using target, however, I am not, just using key binds within the GUI for now. Is there an easy way to make my own HOTAS graphic for reference until I learn all the bindings, such a supplied with profiles made by people for target etc? Thank you System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
pacastro Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 +1 This would be really useful for me too, I also use direct key assignments from DCS. If someone with the knowledge could make a program to create a graphic profile of your controls from the DCS joystick configuration files would be awesome. Regards
Svsmokey Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Not sure what you are asking for , but two thoughts occur . I use 1/4 " grid graph paper to log my control settings . Diamonds for hats with lines coming off for each binding station . Dots for buttons with lines coming off as well . Short description on the lines . Diamonds and buttons are laid out on the graph paper as in the joystick/throttle layout . You may find it helpful to print screenshots of the bindings as well . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
pacastro Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 The idea is to get the graphic profile creation automated, like the TM target software does but getting the info directly from DCS joystick configuration files for the people that don't use target and use button assignment inside DCS. In the joystick configuration files you have the buttons assigned and the description for the actions assigned to each one, so someone with the knowledge could do some programing to automatically fill a graphic profile template with the info extracted from the joystick config file. These graphic profiles usually are just 1 page so it's easy to use for reference, if you print screenshots of the keybindings it could be several pages long and not easy to relate the button number assigned to the actual physical button on the actual device if you don´t remember the number for all of them.
Svsmokey Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yes , it is always much better to have someone else assume the responsibility for your problem , perhaps taking months to do so , when you could solve it yourself in an hour with paper , a straight edge , and a pencil :) 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2

Is there an easy way to make my own HOTAS graphic for reference until I learn all the bindings, such a supplied with profiles made by people for target etc? Thank you Which HOTAS do you own? I've made my own diagrams and have offered them here before for people to use. If what you want isn't here, let me know anyway - I've owned a number of controllers and made diagrams for them all: https://postimg.cc/gallery/giqu0ai4/ Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

markturner1960 Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 Yes, thank you and for the other useful suggestions. I am using a warthog throttle and a real simulator F-16 joystick ( same as warthog basically ) How easy would it be to make a warthog one? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
oboe Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Just Google "thrustmaster warthog button diagram" and you'll get lots of diagrams for the stick and throttle. Not too much work to import into a graphics program to blank out the button assignments and add your own. I usually print a blank version and write my assignments in red ink for visibility.
