[INVESTIGATING]Command heading should be wind corrected

I believe the command heading line on the HUD heading tape (the pipe or diamond thing for waypoint, TACAN, or TGT) should be wind corrected so as not to indicate the direct heading to the steerpoint but rather the correct heading as to be on a direct COURSE to it. In other words if the wind is coming from the right, your velocity vector is going to be offset to the left of the heading caret. Thus the command steering line should be corrected to the right so that when the caret lines up with it, the velocity vector is on a straight course for the steerpoint.

Here is some proof:image0.jpg

See how the TGT diamond and the heading caret are basically lined up? In DCS, the diamond on the heading tape would also be lined up in this instance because of the fact it is not wind corrected. Now see the velocity vector; it is offset to the left. Now look at the heading tape command steering diamond. It is offset to the right. If the pilot turned right a tad, this would place the heading caret over the heading diamond. This would put the actual aircraft heading to the right of the TGT abut the velocity vector headed straight for it.

Thus, the command heading should be wind corrected.

Thanks!

I have put together am images to hopefully show this a bit more clearly.

Note this applies for all WYPTs, TACANs, TGTs, and PP JDAM targets, but I just used a TGT with an AUTO bombing profile setup to most clearly demonstrate this.

Thanks

Video source linked is from an F/A-18E, Super Hornet. Can't really claim it to be inaccurate in sim as there are actual real differences in the two aircraft.

Come on, seriously? The command heading bug should be wind corrected. Period. Any ounce of aviation common sense / aircraft familiarity makes this obvious.

The current implementation flies you on a track downwind of the intended path, clearly illustrated by the OP.

Not sure why this is in Wishlist and not BUGs.

like... yes seriously? if the real aircraft doesn't have wind corrected command heading, then its not likely we're going to get it, is it? and if the source in OP isn't an F/A-18C, then, :juggle:

Aside from the lack of airmanship shown in that reasoning line, there is a whole parapraph on the -000 about all great circle steering in all master modes being corrected for wind drift. Should not be different in the case the OP presents.

Definitely worth checking it and cross-checking with SME input.
