Isn't that the long-arrow across the compass-rose, it's always pointing to the current Wp?

If not, then what is the difference between the long-arrow & V?

That is the heading reference bug that can be adjusted with the HDG control knob to the left of the HSD.

The heading knob is not controllable in pic 1,2,3. ie. I can't change it.

 

Which means "automatically controlled by WSC computer or data-link" (see post above). But what does that mean? What is it pointing at? Auto controlled for what?
