Hi! I enjoyed a lot the F-15E book written by Steve Davies and I wonder if there is good F-18 technical books out there, with info on the development, different versions, avionics and a little bit on the operation of this monster. Legacy Hornet only

Thanks!

Do you have it? Does it have extensive information about the legacy hornets? It looks more focused on the super. I'm looking for the definitive hornet Bible

Hi,

I have bought this book form German Amazon last month,

- informations - legacy vs. super is about half/half

This book is relative small, its content is about 50% photos,

there is no much extensive in-depth information, so I don't

think that this is book you are looking for.

Cheers,

colo

Hornet: The inside story of the F/A-18 by Orr KellyIs good (as noted above).

Also the warbird tech series - volume 31 covers the Hornet

But "Hornet: The inside story of the F/A-18" is more like a reading book, am I right? The "Owner workshop manual" is the proper book style, but unfortunately it looks quite shallow. It's funny that you can find really deep monographs on the TSR2, but it's almost impossible to find quality tech books on regular aircraft like the Hornet or the Viper :(

I bought this one : https://www.reidairpublishing.com/product-p/rap011.htm

Or for the A10C : https://www.reidairpublishing.com/product-p/rap016.htm

Should maybe buy the F16 one to train before release...

Probably because they're not 60 years old and out of service.

Still, there is a lot more material available for other in-service aircraft, like the Harrier or even the Super Hornet . Seems to me that the legacy Hornet never attracted much interest.

Like DACO series, they are a valuable source for modelers, with lots of pictures. Unfortunately, little text goes along with these books and only scarce info can be found on aircraft development, systems etc

The inside story isn’t just a reading book, it does go into technical descriptions, it just depends on how deep you’d like. I was actually surprised how good it was and in conjunction with the warbird tech series found I had good coverage.

However, agree, the Hornet book wise hasn’t received anything like F-15 Eagle Engaged - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2355301.F_15_Eagle_Engaged

I will try then. The other book you mention, F-15 Eagle Engaged, it's also written by Steve Davies. I'm surprised that his F/A-18 book doesn't match up his other F-15 books.
