marcos Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 The Tiger really does carry its gun right on its nose-tip. That can't be any good for accuracy surely?

Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Marcos, I'd guess the aiming computer takes that in account? German Tigers don't have the gun, but because they were unhappy with the recoil of the cannon. Instead they can mount 12.7mm pods under pylons, but frankly it doesn't compare to a 30mm cannon. The nose mount shouldn't be a problem, the Mi-24 has been sporting the design for decades: South Africa's Super Hind is one scary guy :D

Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 You want me to fly in the back of a little tiny fighter aircraft with a crazy fighter pilot who thinks he's invincible, home in on a SAM site in North Vietnam, and shoot it before it shoots me, you gotta be shittin' me!Jack Donovan, former B-52 EWO, thus inventing the YGBSM motto :)

mvsgas Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Did he land without his gear down? Yes, it happened two years ago IIRC, landed in Edwards AFB. Let me see if I can find the accident report. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
