TazTime Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Hello, I am running DCS OB 2.5.5.35461. No Falcon to be found to download..... Tried to update but DCS thinks I am at the current version. (maybe I am...? Any thoughts? Thank you in advance for your help / time, -Cheers
Etirion Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Current openbeta is 2.5.5.36986. The updater only checks once every 24h when you just launch dcs, you gotta manually use the dcs_updater.exe from your DCS install folder /bin
Dimus Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Does the F-16 work only in the open beta version? I have the stable 2.5.5.35461 and the F-16 does not show at all in the module manager.

I'm wondering the same thing. I do not have the OB version of DCS world. I only have the stable version. Will the F-16 work in the stable version of DCS world or will the F-16 only work in the OB version of DCS world?

If you wish you can run DCS open beta as well it is an independent version of DCS https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ When we have news about the viper moving to the stable version we will let you all know. Will the F-16 work in the stable version of DCS world or will the F-16 only work in the OB version of DCS world? OB only, its simple to switch between stable and OB, theres a pretty good guide in this link https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 Look for the "Updating or Switching an Install Between "Open Beta" and "Release" Version Branches (1.2.8.):" section In a nutshell, navigate to your DCS World/Bin folder, open command prompt and run this line DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta , that should open the updater to change to OB. This will mean you wont have the stable version anymore but most people run OB anyway
Rockerverb08 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 For now only the OB version. You can make an easy switch though. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure of what I'm required to do in order to switch to an OB version. Seems like that write up was from several years ago and I have no idea where everything is at in version control.

Only powershell for some reason.
Kebabs Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately all I dont even have the option to run command from that folder. Only powershell for some reason. Can you navigate manually using cmd? in my case being installed in "E:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin" I'd open CMD, type E: and press enter then type cd Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin and press enter, then run DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta and press enter. Apologies if you already know how to navigate with cmd, but its odd you cant run it on your machine, unless you try running cmd as administrator if not already?
Kebabs Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Or the easiest way (if you've not tried already), just navigate to the DCS_World/Bin folder in windows as you would normally, then just type cmd in the folder bar at the top. This should open cmd with the correct folder path already selected
Eldur Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Powershell works the same way as Cmd, but it allows for more powerful commands. Basically it replaces the old Cmd thingy, but most people still feel more comfortable with the old one. Has been introduced in Vista already IIRC, but since Win 10 it's default for the shift right click menu. It's possible to change that back to Cmd though via registry.
TheHighwayman Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I am having the same issue, except I cannot get DCS to update by any means. I have run the updater.exe, both from Windows and from the CMD line, and nothing. I have logged out and back in, and rebooted, still no update. Is there a log file or something I can delete to force an update? Thanks!
TheHighwayman Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 SOLVED! I used the CMD option and added "repair." so... DCS...bin\DCS_updater.exe repair
surfcandy Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I updated to OB and installed F-16. Now what is the difference of staying always in OB or standard and how do I get back to standard if I decide to switch back?
Cobra747 Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I’m not getting the updates either. Tried running DCS_updater.exe and also the Updater Utility. Are the update servers down?
aleksaleks Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Falcon not Found Hi guys, same problem. I have DCS open beta 2.5.5.35461. No Falcon to be found to download. Also tried to update but DCS thinks I am at the current version i.e. it won't update even though I'm running the DCS updater. Very frustrating experience. Please advise what to do.
aleksaleks Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Fixed O.K. saw the reply from to run DCS_updater with the repair option. It did some stuff and updated to the same old version. However when I started DCS then anew it actually updated to the current version and voila the falcon was there! And now while I'm writing this it is installing. So holding thumbs :). Forgot the user name but thanks for that tip for running the updater with the repair option!
aleksaleks Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Name checked, thanks goes to "The Highwayman".
