What i've learnt from HBs Tomcat is about myself.

Ive been swimming since the early 80s, and became a pilot. Flight simulation (apart from when i'm being checked at work!) is my main passion.

The thing is, ive never been satisfied. Ive always been the dude looking for the latest bits of information on what's upcoming, what's next. Before the internet - id be trawling newsstands for information. In this age - we have unlimited resources.

I was spending way more time reading forums, seeking out rumours and news - than enjoying the hobby itself.

Since HBs Tomcat - Ive been living the "NOW' (set in 1986!). This module gives me so much enjoyment - im not worried about what's next. Sure ill be excited for whatever it is, but right now im living the "NOW". And not just in DCS. Never felt happier.

Thanks Heatblur.

Dave

Life is great dude !

There are some great sim packages out there, such as PMDG's amazing 777 and A2A's Beechcraft Bonanza which is as close to owning the Doctor Killer as you can get...

But Heatblur has done it.

Everything else regardless of platform will be judged against the sky high standard... :D

Now that we have been having it for a while? Sure, i could try and mangle some nice words to show my appreciation.......but i believe in show-don't-tell so here is my total flight time in DCS since i actively joined 2 years ago and my flight time in the 2 top used aircraft..........

Heatblur you crazy b***ards, you did it, i don't know how, but you did it!

Let's not forget to thank ED - after all, they started this whole thing with DCS: World and created the opportunity where Heatblur could develop and release such an unbelievable module in DCS: F-14B!!!

My good old friend... that's a LOT of "experience gathering" hours indeed.

But allow me:

1 - Wouldn't you agree that such hours in the mighty F-14, also deserve the respective US Navy ranks and insignias to go with ?

2 - I do have different pilots for different services / countries, like for instance a russian pilot for soviet / russian aircraft; also other pilot exclusivelly for US Air Force, and even other for RAF.

( Thanks to member Home Fries, for the Logbook Mod. )

Thx for reminder! I already got to Colonel (240 hours total, 120 in F-15C, 80 in F-14B, plus other) but I guess all in the USAF :) It'll be fun to finally get some new shiny medals and ranks.

btw: I see you both hate refueling and night flying :) It's fun - try it. No deaths/ejections Top_Jockey?

You're welcome - the logbook mod from Home Fries really makes the difference, you can be sure the respective ranks, insignias and medals are eye candy to have.

As for me it wouldn't make sense in having the exact same pilot (with the exact same records and stuff) for both the Eagle and the Tomcat, etc (much less for foreign aircraft also).

It would just kill all of the immersion factor in any logbook.

I did 1 hour of night flying just to have it logged.

Air refueling never tried it to be honest, neither campaigns so far.

On deaths and ejections, I have many of them on other test pilots, let's say I have been very "carefull" with this one ...

I absolutely agree!

I just hoped to start a new pilot profile for a "career" mode, once we get out first campaign.

I had no idea that mod existed, i'm tempted to get it now :P

But seriously, on both accounts, one quick math session later, and it's apparent i don't fly all that much. 1 hour every 6-7 days on average (which usually translates to one session every 3 weeks) and more like 1 hour every 4 days since the F-14 came out.

As such i have to be extremely picky with my game-flight sessions. Joyriding? Carrier traps? BFM? BVR? And like Dave Parsons said in that Aircraft Interview episode, man i just want to fight. :joystick: So i never got to do any CASE III's or AAR. Besides, i still have nightmares from my Hornet attempts (that's where those 3 refuels come from)

But there is another reason why i stay away from night ops and among other things BVR (especially in MP- more then 90% of my kills in MP and more then 75% in SP are gun kills and heaters ). As my free time is limited, i try to bypass features that are still in development and-or are about to go through a major change. In SP i used the missile mod, but in MP that won't work. If ED is indeed changing the missiles in the next year and are working on a new lighting system, i can wait. I'm a patient guy :smilewink:

And after testing the new Sparrow on the Cat in SP and the hopefully soon to be released Phoenix overhaul....... that means at least one aspect of my abstinence is going to soon be over. Even with the lack of TWS auto.

EDIT:

Which reminds me......all 18 minutes of my night flights are in an F-5 out of all things! :P Go figure that one out.....

And i got 2 campaigns for my F-15C the instant i got the FC3 (which was my first purchase), i just never even got to start one :(
