Map crashes DCS on loading screen

Hi folks,

 

the Gulf Map is the only map that keeps crashing my sim (newest Open Beta). No matter whether I try to start via Multiplayer, Mission Editor or Single Mission, the sim crashes on the initial loading screen.

 

Can somebody help?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

 

As suggested remove unofficial mods and run a cleanup and repair or verify for steam users.

Hi guys, thanks for your help. I removed all mods. Still, the Persian Gulf Map keeps crashing DCS. NTTR and Caucasus work fine. Any other ideas where to locate the problem?

You need to run a repair. Failing that i am sure you could delete the map files from your pc and let DCS re-install them though the repair should fix anything without having to resort to that

Try dropping your preload radius aswell just for good measure 100,000 is a good setting for most

Make a backup of

C:\Users\Julius\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\

 

just by renaming the folder to

C:\Users\Julius\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta_backup\

 

Now DCS will start with a new profile - try to load any PG mission.

Please contact support directly they will assist you.

 

Please give them you dcs.log after the crash happens and your dxdiag

I am having similar problems. The only way I can get PG to even load, is to start with an airborne mission such as the 1v1 scenarios. But the second I get close to an airport or even the carrier, the sim begins to lag tremendously until it crashes. I could see some of the intense scenery causing a problem, but isn't the modeled carrier the exact same from the Caucasus map? Why does the carrier cause the same lag issue.

 

I can run Caucasus scenery at mid to high levels with excellent frame rates, but can't even begin to load PG. There must be a bug somewhere.

Found the solution, at least to my problem. I updated my graphics card driver (GTX 745). Crashes are gone, PG looks great, performance is great, with only occasional pauses from time to time.
