Interaction with the Ground Crew

When I land at another airfield, I have contact with ATT, but I haven't been able to communication back and forth with the ground crew for refueling, repairs, etc. Do I need to be at a specific area on the airfield?

Is the field part of your coalition? Enemy fields and Neutral Fields won’t allow servicing.

 

Some jets require you to raise your canopy.

You can refuel/repair at any part of the airport, but:

 

 

1) it has to belong to your coalition, that is if you are blue you need to land on a blue airbase

 

 

2) You have to stop the engines and open the cockpit

That explains it. I was on Neutral airfields. I was working on my navigation skills on the Nevada map. I think ALL those airfields are neutral. Thanks guys!

You do not have to shut down the engines to refuel and re-arm.

 

You may have to shut down if you need repairs.

I just checked all three maps. Only Caucasus has an additional Blue airfield; the rest are Neutral. Nevada and Persian Gulf, only the start-from base is Blue; all the rest are Neutral. So you have extremely limited repair stations; other than Caucasus, return home for repairs.

In the Mission Editor, click on a base (within its boundary circle) and you can set its affiliation.

You can load that mission within mission editor - then you can change the bases (any which you choose) to match your coalition - then I would recommend to "save as" and create a new file name.... That way, you can do the self training that you are currently doing - while being able to rearm/refuel at any point along the way, could even put in some a/a refueling options if you felt so inclined - and without compromising/changing the stock cold and dark mission.

For rearming/repair you dont ask ATC, the ones you need to ask is Ground Crew ... and they dont have frequencies, just open the cockpit and yell at them (until we get hand signals from ED :) )
