Bearfoot Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 The JTAC/FAC approach replicates the CAS mission. What about laser designation by AI units without that process? E.g., a preplanned LGB deep strike with (simulated) special forces designating targets? Or an AI spotter (in a helo or another aircraft). So no troops in contact, no 9-line. etc. Is there a way to set that up in a mission?
Tholozor Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 (edited) You'll probably need a script like CTLD to make that happen. https://github.com/ciribob/DCS-JTACAutoLaze Edited November 26, 2019 by Tholozor REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
Tiramisu Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 You'll probably need a script like CTLD to make that happen. https://github.com/ciribob/DCS-JTACAutoLaze Is that going to make the AI use laserguided GBUs correctly? When I tried to setup an AI-strike for an F-14 the GBU missed its targets way off.
Tholozor Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 It doesn't really do anything to the AI, it's just a JTAC script for automatic lazing without having to go through the radio process. If the laser codes match, then I imagine it'll track. I only know how to make them launch lasers and smoke bombs, but how can I make them launch infrared rays?
Tholozor Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 I didn't make the script, so I don't know all the functions. Recommend you check out the readme file. Bearfoot Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 Looks like this might work. Does not seem to be a way to control which targets get lased (beyond the class, e.g. "vehicle"), but don't suppose that this will be a big problem. Once again, @ciribob to the rescue!
=475FG= Dawger Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 You can set the TARGET priority with unit name when using CTLD.
Tiramisu Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 So is it possible that the AI F-14 lases a ground target with its Lantirn?
Bearfoot Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 So is it possible that the AI F-14 lases a ground target with its Lantirn? From the available docs, it does not look like there is any restriction on the type of AI unit that can lase. So, it seems like a "yes" to your question? Have not tried it myself ...
Tiramisu Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Ok, I will try it. It would be really awesome if the AI could lase for their own bombs or for buddy lasing.
pclipse Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Hate to bring a thread out of the dead. But is there a similar script, or a way to edit that script so that it's only an IR mark, as opposed to a laser?

I was looking to basically do exactly what this script does, except instead of a laser code, just an IR mark. I wanted to record my own audio and not use the AI Jtac. Thank you though :)
