So with the announcement of the new "Thrustmaster® HOTAS Magnetic Base and F-16C Viper™ HOTAS Add-On Grip" (which appears to be a Warthog base and dare I say A-10 grip that you can buy separately, which I think is awesome BTW) it got me thinking like most of you I am sure....Now that I can customize my grip, I wish I could pick and choose an aircraft specific throttle too.

If we get enough people together to show THRUSTMASTER that if they built a new standalone F16-C throttle (a new Cougar basically with a USB plug) with all of the advancements in sensor technology that they have learned over the years that it would sell like hotcakes?

I have a full THRUSTMASTER WARTHOG stick and throttle. I love them and they work fantastic. But I really like the F-16C as well and get a lot of enjoyment doing A/A engagements in the F-16C and F/A-18C. A large portion of being successful in A/A is being able to work the radar modes quickly and efficiently. Trying to manipulate the radar elevation with the WARTHOG throttle obviously can be done, but I feel if I had the radar elevation control wheel like on the Cougar I could see how that would be more advantageous. I think there is enough of a design difference between the A-10C and F-16C throttle where it could warrant me purchasing a different throttle and hence that is the business reason that validates THRUSTMASTER to build it. Meaning that there would be a large enough market to warrant it.

Being able to customize your sim how you want now by being able to buy a base separate and choosing which grip you want, the F-16C / A-10C or the F/A-18C which is really close to the F15 as well, is GREAT! Now I just wish I could purchase a separate throttle where I could unplug my A-10C throttle when I "climb out the Hog" and plug in my F-16C when I "jump in a Viper" and have a near 100% "real" setup. Need a UFC controler :).

The hope of this thread is to show THRUSTMASTER that "If you build it, they will come". So maybe this thread will get some traction and the decision makers over at THRUSTMASTER might consider to green light this project, or at least have a meeting about its feasibility, fingers crossed.

Please vote in the poll above and feel free to add your comment below if you would be a buyer.

Moderator can you change the name of the poll to.

+1 for the throttle......that’s what the hardware world needs, more replica throttle quadrants

Yes, please. I love having a Cougar throttle with realistic buttons but I think I've spent more time troubleshooting that thing then playing the F-16 module. I adjusted the detents from stock but it's still a little janky. Needs the pinky lever for throttle cut off too.

The problem with polls like this is that it's essentially the same as asking "do you want something or nothing"? Given the option between something vs. nothing, nobody's going to pick nothing, especially if the only effort required is clicking a button. It might work for judging interest if it was a wider survey, but not as a poll in a sub-forum of a sub-forum that the vast majority of the target market won't see.

So I am all for constructive criticism and I agree you do have a valid point. I only included 2 options because I could not come up with a 3rd. (At the end of the day I think THRUSTMASTER is only concerned with would you spend money or not.) If you have a suggestion for a 3rd or even a 4th poll option you can PM me and I'll see if we can add it.

A Cougar V2 with realistic Idle and Afterburner and a Proper Buttonbox Replica with Lightning, would be perfect for the DCS F-16.

Otherwise a Thrustmaster FA/18C Replica Throttle, with that functionality, would be also a step forward.

What’s the difference between the warthog grip and the new viper grip that thrustmaster has just released? I know from my limited research the warthog and the viper use the same stick it’s the throttle that’s different.

I would propably buy a F-16 throttle when the F-16 module is further developed one day, lets say as far as the Hornet is now. But not a grip, makes no sense if one already has the WH. More than a F-16 throttle, i would like to have F/A-18 throttle replica. Would buy that on day one.

Hello VpR8

For a F/A-18C Hotas please check for Winwing (if you are interested in a throttle only they will likely sell them separately at a later point).

Thanks for the hint, the WinWing HOTAS already catched my eyes and it looks promising. Only problem is, that it´s incompatible with my rig. From the pictures i´ve seen, i won´t be able to mount the throttle. And as you assumed, i`m only interested in a throttle. However, i haven´t seen any confirmed information that winwing is planning to sell it separately one day and last time i checked, their customer support seems to be horrible. If both changes, i may get one if i find a way to mount it to my rig.

Don't just point out problems, propose solutions.

The solution is easy: don't create pointless polls that are ultimately go nowhere, and instead do something more meaningful like creating a mock preorder page where people actually have to put some effort into preordering, or design a 3D model of what you want and get feedback on that, or ask for what people actually want feature-wise and compile it together into a sensible list.

What you're doing right now is akin to saying "do you want something?", getting a few dozen upvotes in a poll, then sending that off to some company and hoping for something to happen. Of course people want something, because something they don't want is better than nothing at all.

If the level of effort that you put in is next to zero, the level of a company giving a crap is likewise going to be zero.

My HOTAS Cougar is still functional but the throttle has a couple of issues.

I no longer have friction on the throttle movement which means that i have to keep my hand on the throttle at all times otherwise it will either move full forward or backward upon release and the speedbrake switch is problematic as to it no longer slides and it causes spiking with the IFF switch.

The Cougar stick has been upgraded a few years ago to RealSimulator FSSB when one of the axis broke. I am really happy with it as it still goes on strong.

Seeing this topic and the one for the RealSimulator F-16 Throttle, i would be more interested in a Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle V2 rather than a RealSimulator one, mainly due to cost. The Cougar stick upgrade to FSSB was worth it but it was a bit pricey. In addition it has been a couple of years since i started searching for an F-16 throttle replacement and i even contacted a couple of companies that i found on the web but those are mainly military grade and way too expensive for personal use, which was disappointing:(

However at one time i did sent an e-mail to Thrustmaster customer service requesting that they think about releasing a new F-16 throttle as a replacement to the Cougar and if memory serves me correctly the customer service guy replied that he would forward the request to the management team.

So now i just hope that since they released an F/A-18 grip for the DCS Hornet, they go ahead in the next few months and release an F-16 throttle.

Just hopping and Christmas is just around the corner. :santa::santa::santa::santa:

I'm going to abstain from voting simply because money does not grow on trees and honestly by having the Warthog Throttle I can do just about anything I want with it. I honestly don't care if it looks like an F-16 throttle or not. I had a Cougar and I sold it a long time ago instead of spending $$$$ upgrading all the various switches and pots to hall effect sensors and new switches.

I might be so inclined to spend the money and would readily indicate a solid MAYBE as an option in the poll if it were there. Seeing what TM did with the Hornet stick at $200+ USD is a little steep for me; not counting the price of the pedals at $500 USD as well.
