Trident Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Although Lock On has enough eye-candy for us to give out in Halloween, there are many things little details that are wrong in the 3d models. Like for example, the M1 tank has two machine guns, not one, and the AIM-120C has clipped fins. Just a thought. I thought LOMAC modelled the AIM-120B?

Also, ask them about those Stinger missile launchers on the wingtips - since the current Apache can't carry AAMs, they may not have the time to incorporate those Stingers onto the Apache. In the following addon we shall give the Stinger to the Apache. It will be good if somebody send photos and drawings Apaches with Stingers. It has around of 10.000 triangles (with pilots included) though they are not showed in the pics. It`s not textured yet, and it has no animations for now. I have just found out it! :) Very good model. Note that the twin launchers for the Stinger are the same on all U.S. helicopters, AFAIK: I have one more detailed side view of an AH-64D Apache Longbow with Stingers, but I'd need to scan it. Since ED will be introducing a fly-able Ka-50 with v1.2 I suppose that the aircraft poly limit should apply to helos too. Let's face it, the earliest we are going to see user made models in LOMAC will be 1.2 anyway.

With effective LOD implementation, all current Lock On capable computers should be more than able to handle it. IMO, 25-30 000 polys should be the max limit of anything short of a cruiser or a flyable aircraft. I guess you could use the size of the 3d model in the game to get some perspective. You shouldn't create a (small) AGM-114 Hellfire with the same 20 000 polys as an Apache, for example.
