I’m looking to migrate from my laptop to a pc I’m having custom built.

Questions:

1) best way to get dcs and mods on the new machine copy or install fresh?

2) I’m wanting to keep my current dcs setup on othe laptop for several reasons:

A) travel

B)mission design and testing

C) casual training

3) can I have valid setups on both machines at the same time as long as I’m bot running them at the same time?

4) how do activate the mods on the new system? Even if the laptop hasn’t been activated.

5) would you install dcs on a sata ssd or a nvme m.2 ssd?

My laptop which I just ordered new ssds for has a gum drive and a sata drive bays. Current factory setup has the gum drive as c and the sata as d drives respectfully. I would like to move the os and run of the mill apps to the sata and reserve the gum drive for dcs and xp11 as I’m doubling the size of but drives. Being a laptop would be possible?

Deactivate any modules that still use DRM protection

Copy the /Program Files/ folder of DCS, to the new PC.

Copy the /Saved Games/DCSxxx/ folder

Document the Windows shortcut, so that you can re-create them on the new PC.

On the new PC, connect with same user credentials and re-activate any DRM module

Rename the hotas lua files at /saved games/dcs/config/input ... in such a way that they use the USB IDs of the new PC .. you might need to create a single test keybind in order to know which USB ID is using the new windows.

2) I’m wanting to keep my current dcs setup on othe laptop for several reasons:

A) travel

B)mission design and testing

C) casual training

Can be done only with the modules that use keyless protection ... the DRM modules cant be used on two computers.

3) can I have valid setups on both machines at the same time as long as I’m bot running them at the same time?

Sorry ... dont understand what you mean :(

4) how do activate the mods on the new system? Even if the laptop hasn’t been activated.

DRM modules can only be used on a single PC at a time.

5) would you install dcs on a sata ssd or a nvme m.2 ssd?

NVM has higher performance ... not sure if it can actually be perceived or not.

Best regards.

‘“What are drm modules?”

Sorry ... dont understand what you mean :(

“I want to use either machine depending on the situation so I want both to contain the same info”

DRM modules can only be used on a single PC at a time.

“After installing the two drives us a windows disk utility to designate the sata as c:\. Drive and the nvme as d:\ drive correct then install windows 10 on the sata then I will either use a directory format separate the two programs.or split the drive in two.

Best regards.
