av8r13 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I have the JHMCS symbology visible even when i am looking straight forward at the HUD. it doesnt appear to be all of the sybology, just the target square and a couple of other symbols. is this normal? the F-16 seems to represent this better (as far as my knowledge). when you are looking at the HUD, the JHMCS completely disappears. thanks in advance
Tholozor Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 AFAIK that's normal behavior (also remember that the JHMCS on the Hornet isn't exactly the same as the HMCS on the Viper, different software I believe). Personally, I use this all the time to avoid the overlay as the blink functionality isn’t the cleanest (even with adjustment). av8r13 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 (edited) thanks all, i will use the recce switch temporarily. my biggest issue was having 2 flashing target squares and not knowing which one was accurate one Edited December 20, 2019 by av8r13
Ziptie Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 thanks all, i will use the recce switch temporarily. my biggest was having 2 flashing target squares and not knowing which one was accurate one The primary reason I regularly use the RECCE button/switch. It also gets you in the habit of properly placing the aircraft when employing A/A weapons, aside from the AIM-9 variants. Eaglewings Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Talking about the RECCE switch, in the Viper, does the Hornet have this convenience. It is cool to use in the Viper. I am not aware of switch to off JHMCS in the fly without using the rotary on/off knob. I am not aware of switch to off JHMCS in the fly without using the rotary on/off knob. The Hornet has a bindable option for the RECCE switch, and current implementation only enables and disables the JHMCS overlay (without having to use the rotary knob). Hopefully future updates can bring the remaining functionality to the Hornet, but time will tell. Search RECCE in control options. Unknown for the Viper, as I won’t be purchasing that aircraft until it is complete. I kind of think the Viper systems will be less complex to implement compare to the Hornet. Will be checking the recce function to see if it does same.
