Just found this, thought that you chaps might like it:

https://www.ww2.dk/Airfields%20-%20France.pdf

It's a nearly 400 page doc listing Luftwaffe airfields in France. I was just about to update a base "setting" for Normandy to reflect some of the data.

Just had a quick through. Unless the bases were given different names, the only bases used by the Luftwaffe on the Normandy map were:

Carpiquet

Conches

Evreux

Maupertus

Argentan

Vrigny

Essay

Hauterive

Barville

Lessay

The doc summarises the air defences on the first 4 of those airfields. Note that some were not commissioned until the summer of 44.

My assumption is that the rest of the bases were built by the allies post invasion.

Below is a link to RAF stations:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_Royal_Air_Force_stations

As can be seen, only Chailey and Tangmere were available for the Battle of Britain.

Correction old chap Chailey was not constructed until 1943; it's an ALG so was only ever a temporary field constructed to support the invasion.

Ford was very much in existence during the Battle of Britain but was a Fleet Air Arm station at the time; it was likely appropriated by the RAF in 1943 as there was a premium on airbases on the South Coast of England and both it and the 9th Air Force needed every filed available considering the vast numbers of aircraft involved in Overlord.

Thank you for this document!

I've been trying to find something similar in creating realistic scenarios with what we've been given.
