Razorback Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 (edited) Hi, With the upcoming arrival (announced in 2020 by ED) of the Mi-24 module, I decided to start building a new Simpit. First step: taking pictures and measurements in a real Mi-24 cockpit. So this Monday I went to the Brussels Royal Army Museum, in the air section, to visit the ex-DDR Mi-24 Hind-D (Mi-24P). Below is the link with all the pictures...Be careful, the file is only available for a few days. https://we.tl/t-GPvOfzXjVs Pictures also available on Google : https://photos.app.goo.gl/QZiGfgWH4c38FzXF8 More pictures and informations on my project will follow during the next months... Next task : draw the plan for the carpenter :) Enjoy ! Chris Edited January 22, 2020 by Razorback
wolf5 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Thanks a lot, very useful  People fly planes, pilots fly helicopters
Vinc_Vega Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 This is really cool stuff! I always wanted the Hind in DCS but it's SimPit would be a great challange. Thumbs up! Regards, Vinc real life: Royal Bavarian Airforce online: VJS-GermanKnights.de [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Razorback Posted February 19, 2020 Author Posted February 19, 2020 Little update of the last few weeks. A lot of parts have been made with the 3D printer. - Selector for color flares - fuses - fuse case (41x) - Rounded piece (utility ??) but present in all panels in the cockpit The seat is under construction at the blacksmith and should be finished next week, all that's left to do is to do the painting work and add the cushions. To be continued...
Razorback Posted March 19, 2020 Author Posted March 19, 2020 Well, since I'm "obliged" to spend time at home following our little global virus, I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to move forward with my project. Improvement of my seat by my blacksmith adding a headrest as on some versions of the Mi-24. On one of them you will see that I thought of leaving a nice picture. It's free and it's my contribution for those who would find themselves alone and confined at home... ;) My 3D printer is still running full throttle. I have just finished the different indicator lights, I have redone and improved the channel selectors for the radio and also finished the Auto-pilot panels. This afternoon, after my 40min running, I took the opportunity to get my "test panel" which has been engraved. The result is great and I'm going to launch the complete order. In fact reproduction of a panel in Powerpoint with the exact dimensions, I pass to the manufacturer and he cuts me (with the laser) to the good dimensions with inscriptions engraved in a piece of plexi of 1,8 mm (screenshot of the plate before printing and photo after printing). The result is very nice !!!! See tou, take care... Chris

I am not able to build this stuff by myself. I must concede that I'm worthless in mechanic and electricity :music_whistling: My blacksmith is completing the construction of the ASP-17V and I'm already amazed by the result. I have just changed some measurements in order to place my Stream Deck and my X-key keyboard on it. Pictures will follow but with the coronavirus all is not running as fast that I would... To be continued...
molevitch Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 (edited) Hey Razorback, What would you charge me for a set of those red/pink/orange fuse blocks? They look great! And also those nice little dashboard light posts. I could use a whole load of them. molevitch Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Razorback, hello again! I have been working on the switching for the autopilot system, and have been referring to a Mi-24/35 set of manuals put out in English, to try and better understand how they will work in the sim. Since I can only use them currently for the Mi-8 in DCS-BIOS I am basing my efforts on the Mi-8 autopilot, but anticipating the 24's AP also. Seeing that you have already produced the panels for the AP system. I want to ask how you will implement this system also. Regarding 3D printed pieces I mentioned in a post above, would you be willing to make a trade? As I mentioned before, I have a collective lever which I want to pass on.... Razorback Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 Small update on My Mi-24P simpit. Because of the quarantine I'm still waiting for the delivery of the seat cushions. These last weeks I have mainly advanced on the ASP-17V aiming system. The main part has been delivered by my blacksmith but still needs to be painted. So I have created the secondary parts that will be placed on it. On the front part I slightly transformed the original model to come and fix my Stream Deck. I also made the landing gear control, the SPO-10 missile warning system and the autopilot buttons. I've become a real fan of my 3D Creality CR-10S Pro 3D printer.

Lobinjaevel Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 @Molevitch, do it! You cant argue the value of a Ender 3 for example, you will not regret it even if you only use it for simparts. I've been 3d printing since 2014 and don't regret it one bit, I only bought it for my simpit but I've used it for many other things since
Razorback Posted May 28, 2020 Author Posted May 28, 2020 Hi, I have just finished my ASP-17V sight. I have modified the original sight in order to place my Streamdeck (in front UP) and my USB X-key (8 buttons) in front (Bottom). I really like the result, not so far from the real sight. I am still waiting the glass/mirror that will be placed on the top of the ASP. Next step : finalisation of the seat 1
Razorback Posted May 30, 2020 Author Posted May 30, 2020 After the ASP, finalisation of the seat. Now it's time to begin all the panels of the Hind...To be continued...
lesthegrngo Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 Very nice work, loving watching this evolve! Cheers Les
Razorback Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 Warning lights...Still in production On the pictures are only the warning lights of the front and right front panels...
Razorback Posted July 14, 2020 Author Posted July 14, 2020 Yesterday I received some of my Mi-24P panels. Second bunch should be ready during Aug. Material : 1,8mm plastic sheets cut with laser. To be continued...
Razorback Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 Construction is progressing step by step. During the last few weeks there has been a lot of work. The rear and right front panels are now finished. The left panel and the centre console are now under construction I managed to buy almost all the front panel instruments... Pictures will follow soon...
agrasyuk Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 That is some dedication. Any sentimental ties to that machine ? I'd think with the availability of awesome DCS modules the mi-24 wouldn't be the first choice for many to have as a dedicated home cockpit . Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
Razorback Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 That is some dedication. Any sentimental ties to that machine ? I'd think with the availability of awesome DCS modules the mi-24 wouldn't be the first choice for many to have as a dedicated home cockpit . I've always been much more attracted by helicopters than airplanes. I got also my helicopter private license during the past. For me the Hind is simply the most beautiful and powerful machine ever built. It's like the F-4 Phantom that have many fans. It is clear that in terms of cockpit construction, those dedicated to helicopters are really in the minority. If you take away the cockpits of the F-16, F-18 and A-10 there is not much left. I previously constructed a Ka-50 cockpit, someone bought it from me and will transform it to a F-18 simpit! :) As far as I know there is only Robin and I that are currently building a Mi-24 Hind cockpit... Fell free to join the club ! :D 2

SmukY Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Just saw your post on the FB group, what have you done is simply amazing - too bad I don't have the place for my own cockpit, but who knows, maybe one day ... :) Also, did you make the vector image for the stencil on the wall? Helicopters don't fly, they just subdue the air. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
