Out at the Ranch

What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas - but what happens in the Pahrump Valley - Happens !

 

Decided to take the Viper west from Nellis across Red Rock Canyon and on the back Side of Mount Charleston into the Flats of the Pahrump Valley.

 

Figured I'd get fewer Noise Complaints for a Low Level Mach Run.

 

While I was there I decided to see how Authentic the DCS World Nevada/Nellis Map was - so I decided to see if the 'Chicken Ranch' was there. I'd seen it from the Air before but needed Google Maps help to geo-locate those 'Chicks'.

 

To the best of my efforts - I think they may have missed it. I though I had zeroed in on where it should stand - but there was only an Empty Corner Lot where the Chickens should Roost.

 

 

And as Paul Harvey would say: "And Now you('ll) Know the Rest of the Story"

 

Long ago and far away - The Hogs from Nellis used to LATN (Low Altitude Tactical Navigation) around the Pahrump Valley. We didn't bother anyone and as far as we know, No One took a Shot at us either.

 

For FUN - sometimes we'd Circle the Hogs around the Chicken Ranch and watch the Busloads of Japanese Tourists (mostly Guys I assumed) have a Look (and feel) around. Yeah - we know what them fellers were up to. Haha. :megalol:

 

 

So DCS World - How Bout Bring Back our Ranch - THANX !

I flew the opposite direction out of Nellis in a Harrier just to poke around. I live in Cedar City, UT (which is just on the edge of this map in real life) and wanted to see how fast I could go through the Virgin River Gorge. Turns out just a touch faster than I drove it in my Firebird.

 

THough there are some structures flying along the I-15 corridor, they are less accurate the farther west you go. No Love's truckstop, Mesquite and St George are nearly non-existant (St George airport is missing) and there is nothing from St George on. Not complaining, I didn't expect it to be that detailed anyway.

is it possible to make a miz or something ? to add every thing they forgot to include ? or make it hd ?

You can place static objects and save as a mission file. Even more can be done with mods. You can't mess with the map mesh though.

I was looking for Art Bell's home in Pahrump (rip), but the Chicken Ranch is way better!

Shame we can't update the mesh. Having the Jedi Transition in high detail would be great. Or ALL of the Sidewinder Low Level route with a correct mesh.
