Woxof Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Yes, the one on the Control Options screen. It does NOTHING when pressed. This is using the Stable version, and the F-18, both on and offline. Any ideas? It's not working in other airplanes in the Stable version, but it's also not working in the Beta, either Edited January 30, 2020 by Woxof More info
Woxof Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 So, should I be concerned about this? Almost 24 hours and no reply from either the player community or DCS to my previous post. NineLine, are you out there? I'd report this as a bug, but I'm not clear as to whether it amounts to one. Help, please.
ngreenaway Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I'm on stable, I can check when I get home from work [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS: The most expensive free game you'll ever play Modules: All of them System: I9-9900k, ROG Maximus , 32gb ram, RTX2070 Founder's Edition, t16000,hotas, pedals & cougar MFD, HP Reverb 1.2, HTC VIVE
Slug72 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Any ideas? Have you tried a repair? (Start Menu/Eagle Dynamics/Repair...) edit... OB here, and 'Axis Assign' definitely works. i9-9900K @5GHz, Z390 Aorus Pro, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz, EVGA RTX 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra, Seasonic Focus+ Platinum 850W PSU, TM Warthog HOTAS, CH Pro pedals, 2x MFD's, MT deskmounts, Asus 32" 1440p display, EDTracker Pro Wireless, HP Reverb
Woxof Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Yup, first thing Absolutely ran Repair. No effect.
Svsmokey Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Are you in the "axis commands" submenu ? Perhaps you are trying to assign to a button function ? Has it worked before ? 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
Woxof Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Yes, it has worked before I was trying to assign the rudder axis to the rudder pedals. Always worked before. Now I can't assign anything to anything, because the dialog doesn't even open.
ngreenaway Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 looks like the problem is on your end. i just fired up fa18 (and a few other modules) and verified both axis assign and axis tune still work- they do. the only thing i didnt try was verifying from vr, but i anticipate it wouldve worked fine [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS: The most expensive free game you'll ever play Modules: All of them System: I9-9900k, ROG Maximus , 32gb ram, RTX2070 Founder's Edition, t16000,hotas, pedals & cougar MFD, HP Reverb 1.2, HTC VIVE
Woxof Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 I think you're right But I haven't got the first idea how to diagnose and (hopefully) fix it. And if nobody else has seen this sort of thing it looks like I'm waiting for something from DCS. But thanks for your help, guys. At least you were able to confirm what I suspected -- that this one was beyond me.
ngreenaway Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 you could always uninstall & reinstall, see if that clears up something that may be corrupted. is it just fa18, or any other modules as well? Woxof Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) Yeah, I have a feeling it'll be a total reinstall ... which I was hoping to avoid, obviously. We'll see. It's all the modules I've tried, and both the Stable and Beta versions. I guess I will file a bug report. At least that gets a trouble ticket started. I'll hold off doing the reinstall in case DCS wants to ask about this. For now. Edited January 31, 2020 by Woxof
discwalker Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 If you want quick help use the official ED Discord help room: on https://discord.gg/ZpCfd4 I tried to answer your issue on your second thread. NVIDIA Ingame overlay (or AMD equivalent) video recording with mouse cursor can help us to diagnose what you've done wrong, because on our end this function is working with all modules. GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR3, W8.1 on SSD, DCS on another SSD
JackFlash Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Experienced the same problem in Huey yesterday. Latest DCS-version. Try double-click the cell and the assign window should pop up. So, in my opinion, this is a genuine bug. My latest project, the Multi Function Button Box can be found at Kickstarter.

Well, you don't seem to get the problem. Step by step here: I click controls I choose my module. (In this case UH-1H) I select Axis commands in the drop down I choose the right cell I click "Axis assign" Nothing happens. No window pops up. If i double click the cell, the window pops up. I really rally deoubt this is a local problem. EDIT! I discovered this bug when guiding a new DCS user with a fresh install and he couldn't get this to work. He had EXACTLY the same bug. EDIT2: This occurred when inside the game, not from the main screen settings. Edited February 25, 2020 by JackFlash My latest project, the Multi Function Button Box can be found at Kickstarter.
discwalker Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 You misunderstood button functions In the stable 2.5.5.41371: -double click on cell: "add assignment panel" pop up, that activateable via "add" button -click on "axis assign" button: selecting "axis commands" category, right to name of the plane (your previous third step) You are welcome. No problem. GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR3, W8.1 on SSD, DCS on another SSD

No problem. Well, since you don't seem to get the bug, here is a video for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9qh1iOujFI Using 2.5.5.41371. Happens on a fresh install as well. I don not say that I don't know how to assign the axis, I'm reporting a bug. My latest project, the Multi Function Button Box can be found at Kickstarter.

It's not working in other airplanes in the Stable version, but it's also not working in the Beta, either I've been having the same problem for years actually. On two different PC's. I have an A-10C cockpit which I had this problem years ago when the F-18 module first came out (I was trying to wedge settings into my A-10 so I could fly the F-18). Now I'm having it on my "development" PC where I write code to interface with DCS. Pressing the Axis Assign button does absolutely nothing. I've tried re-installing DCS, re-installing .net. Basically I'm sitting here with DCS saying "NO WHEEL BRAKES FOR YOU!!!". I'm on a completely different version of DCS than I was 4 years ago, and I'm running latest stable at the moment, not beta.
