philstyle Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Just seen some new screenies of the WiP channel map. Thought I'd dump a link to this very large visible feature here, in case it gets over-looked: On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/philstylenz Storm of War WW2 server website: https://stormofwar.net/
xvii-Dietrich Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Good call. It might be useful if this was an asset, rather than "baked into the map". The reason for this is that it could then be used at Ventnor (Isle of Wight), etc. on the Normandy map. It would also mean that it could be left off for a post-war scenario. Of course, this also depends a bit on the era of the Channel Map. At this stage it is not clear if it will be Battle of Britain era or post-Normandy. While this will have the most impact on the European side of the channel (in terms of the Atlantik Wall fortifications), it would also affect what was installed on the British coast.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 31, 2020 ED Team Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) Already in the planning stages for chain home. Thanks for the nice picture! it is a modern day one with one of the taller towers missing. Generally the setup was 4 metal tall towers (transmitters) and 4 wooden smaller towers (receivers). If you have images or information about chain home please feel free to post it here. thanks Edited January 31, 2020 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Coxy_99 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I already contacted you BN But also you have Dover and Deal castle really good landmark points from above in the air.
Northstar98 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) Hmm, it would seem a waste to include non-functional CH stations on the map, it would probably be better if these could be functional units or EWR assets to use in the mission editor, and then on the map include the locations ready for stations to be placed, or perhaps include a template for them so they can all be placed pretty quickly. The same can be said for some of the best looking RADAR assets in DCS - the P-37, PRV-11 and DRL-7 - always present at airfields on the Caucasus map by default, but entirely non-functional despite being animated. It would be a shame IMO if CH is implemented in the same way... Anyway here's a resource I found, it's got a fair bit on some modern and Cold War systems suitable for DCS too Edited June 13, 2020 by Northstar98 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. Coxy_99 Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 First one is 1948 before cold war upgrade or radio but clear that nothing is missing or added. These are the swingate towers on top of the cliffs
