leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 1. To realize its full potential. 2. To ease the pain of playing a sim as complicated as this one. 3. To surround myself with sexy, glowing electronic maze. 4. To repel those hot, nasty, bodacious babes that wants to seduce me away from my true destiny -- pretending to be a hot chit pilot. 5. To tell my neighbor what a cunning dorkster I am. Or better yet, show me what ya got. Nothin too expensive though, I'm a teacher working for third world's wage. I want to get back to simming and BS is it. I need a list, peeps, something that will get my blodd pumping in the other direction. heh ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Here are my do-it-yourself projects. It's my ideal flight chair that I drew over a year ago but never got around to building it. Lost interest in simming; thank ED for reviving the geek in me with BS. Anyway, it'll be made of steel tubings so it should be cheap to build. Most importantly, I think this is something anyone of us, even if you're not a handyman, can achieve. Just go out and buy some tubes and have a muffler shop bend them or weld them; should be affordable even in the U.S. I also plan on building my own rudder pedals but I am a complete tool when it comes to electronic so any advice would be greatly appreciated. It'll be USB so I'll need an inexpensive usb controller. Anyone got a link to a good one? And since labor is extremely cheap in this country, I'm thinking about building a set of gimbals. Anyone has any good design I can borrow for mine? I came up with a few but I ain't no engineer so there must be something better out there. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
urze Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Ok! here is mine - See you in Brussels at the Simware Show 2-4.11.07! :) :clap:Thanks to the community an Eagle Dynamics that made it possible! Leftside Limited - ideas and solutions
leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Whoa... On my bodacious babe repellent scale of one to ten, I give it a twenty! I'm afraid to ask but here goes...how much? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 urze, Just a suggestion; perhaps you could militarized the grip a little? It looks like it belong in a company's executive helicopter not military. :D ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 SimFreak, MFP is nice and I love CH gear but I'm leaning toward touchbuddy. And the reason I want to build a rudder pedal is because I prefer wider feet separation. The CH pedal is too close to each other. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

leafer Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Uh-huh! Found the usb controller I was looking for. Precision Joystick Controller BU0836 urze, I meant the design of the grip but it's no big deal. If the price is right...a lot of people will buy it I'm sure. It looks good. Now, where is that guy who was working on Flanker stick? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Wdigman Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I am currently in Las Vegas at SEMA... Aftermarket auto parts and car show, Lots of classics and Ferraries. At some of the booths they had the racing simulators some more high tech thatn others but I know I can make the simple one, not so sure about how to get hydralics to work with DCS. Here are some pics and links. This is the simple.
Wdigman Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Sorry messed that one up Here is the link to the complicated version, it has hydralics and three large screens for the panoramic feel. They also have lots of parts that I will use on my setup, the chair and the rumble subs, give you a more realistic feel. http://www.motorsportsimulators.com/products.html I know this is for car racing but you could buy the pieces you need and put together a nice cockpit for what ever you fly. I have a pic of a more simple version but dont know how to post it yet, basically it is the seat on steel tubing with a floor board for the pedals and a tray for a steering wheel or touch buddies, and if you wanted you could fasten a spot for the throttle. Private message me for pics, I will sent them out if you wish. I dont believe the hydralics would work for DCS but who knows with all the programming talent out there.
Ratgnagna Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 If i found money, and if it running with BS: Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
brewber19 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Hi Leafer, I have Touchbuddy, fantastic piece of kit. I don't know if Zorlac will develop it further, but it does everything I need it to do for the Frogs so I reckon it'll do all we need it to for BS (like a nice automated start-up ;)) As for pedals, I have CH Pro pedals which, as you say, feel too close together. I thought I'd try the Saiteks as their spacing looks better...and the spacing was, but the "feeling" of the mechanics was just so rough compared to the CH and jerky, so I couldn't get the precision on cannon runs with them like I could with the CH. In the end I sold my Saiteks on eBay and went back to my CH. I'd rather crush my nuts and kill tanks on gun passes, that waste an entire "clip" cratering the ground ;) In a few words then, Tbuddy is great, get it, and CH pedals are still the best at that price-point. SimFreak, MFP is nice and I love CH gear but I'm leaning toward touchbuddy. And the reason I want to build a rudder pedal is because I prefer wider feet separation. The CH pedal is too close to each other. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 487th Helicopter Attack Regiment, of the VVS504 Red Hammers
ViperVJG73 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I don't need essential gadgets to fly BS! I'm use my Cougar with inverted thrust axis and move the collective pitch with this axis. I completely agree with Brewber here.. The comersialy sold padals are just to close together for it to be comfortable.. So why not just build a set of pedals yourself..? It took me one evening to build mine from "of the shelf" components, and they haven't let me down for.. I can't even remember how long anymore.. [ATTACH]100[/ATTACH] They may look like crap, but they work like a charm.. (I have since this pic was taken added hall effect sencor instead of a potmeter):joystick: "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
