I'm getting good results with a gamma value of 2.0 with my Lenovo Explorer at 60Hz (noticeably dimmer than 90Hz).

With lower gamma values, outside the cockpit during day it was ok but the cockpit was too dark. 2.0 seems like a better balance.

And even better, with the new lighting it seems like I don't need different gamma values for different like conditions.

It has to be a tuneable because viewing hardware varies so much. Mine is on 1.8 on my 32" 1440p display on current release beta patch. Prior to lighting update it was around 2.5.

but for me, I use 1.8.

Likewise. Seems to strike a good balance between day and night.

Apparently with the latest few updates to the lighting engine, the colours are tuned to gamma 2.2

I have used 1.6 for years, but since 2.7 especially nights are far too dark, so I switched to 2.2 and I’m glad I did. It should be considered the default value, comparable to 1.0 in other games.

I hadnt realised just how much an impact global cockpit lighting had. Its something I switched off after a few flights in the spitfire years ago and never thought to enable again. @1080P 2X MSAA 2.2 does tend to spring out the ailiasing a little more but spottng is easier that a lower gammas. 1.6 in 2.7 is definately too dark for me though. I swing between 1.9 and 2.2.

I'm having hard time adjusting for correct gamma. Just calibrated my monitor and got it spot on with the calibration pictures, but DCS has a seperate gamma adjustment. If i put it low enough so that night flights are as dark as they should be (pretty much pitch black when flying in cloudy weather) then day time is also too dim.

Anyone have a reference what a night mission at Caucasus for example is supposed to look at winter and summer for correct gamma? I have no idea how dark the nights are around other parts of the word.

Maybe a suggestion for ED to implement gamma adjustment for both day and night, it could automatically gradually shift from one to other as it gets darker.

Don't forget your Nv CP settings. Mine are as follows using LG 32" 1080p Monitor. In game gamma is 1.7.
