TLTeo Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I agree, I'm interested in pretty much anything Deka does next. I haven't bought the JF-17 (yet) because between the Hornet and Viper I have enough modern jets I don't fly enough, but anything different and Redfor-only would be very appealing to me. J-5, J-8, JH-7, Q-5, H5, I'm good with anything
AeriaGloria Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Unfortunelty JH-7 is off limits for flysble. I believe it’s still front line plane for China. Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
TLTeo Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 So is the J-8, and as far as I know Deka has expressed interest in both. Besides, the Hornet, Viper, A-10C, Mirage 2000C and Harrier are all still in front line use as well in various different country (although they are being phased out in various ways), so I don't think that's a particularly persuasive argument.
AeriaGloria Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) It’s what Deka has said themselves, they won’t do anything in front line PLA use. I’ll see if I can find where they specifically said frontline, but they did once, likely in response to J-10 question. As of 2015 there were still J-8s in service and even more then JH-7, but I had always thought that with how much older the J-8 is that is more of a backup then the JH-7, which is their premiere optimized strike and anti shipping platform. For example J-8 production stopped in 2010, but they only stopped making JH-7 in 2017. IMO the JH-7 is far more technologically advanced plane that is their first choice for interdiction and anti ship, while the J-8 can’t claim to be the best of its role among the planes in PLA service. A lot depends on the variant chosen of course, but that’s my interpretation EDIT: should clarify I should’ve been typing JH-7A. If it’s the original JH-7 you mean then yes that probably on the table I bet, if it doesn’t have too much MFD Edited March 16, 2020 by AeriaGloria Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

Currently we only see reports of Chinese Sukhois and J-10s flying more near certain contested areas. The J-8 seem to almost completely be replaced by J-10 which is the actual mainstay aircraft of China at present. I believe J-8 could be possible as its almost fully phased out. Depends on the version, though... Its the JH-7 that seem more newer and is still in service.
AeriaGloria Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Can’t find any cockpit photos, but supposedly the JH-7A is made with a composite wing, and has a HMS. EDIT : found a cockpit photo of JH-7A, but can’t find any of original JH-7 or how many produced.... Did not know this but there has been phased in a new upgrade variant https://www.janes.com/article/90410/upgraded-jh-7-fighter-bomber-in-service-with-plaaf So maybe who knows after Deka is done doing something not so MFD heavy. It seems to have an eclectic mix of inspirations and take aways not unlike JF-17, where the engines are licensed RR Speys, the radar is developed from AWG-9, and shares a similar form factor as the Jaguar and F-1, despite being far larger. Gun fairing is quite a bit different then our JF-17 despite the same gun 1 Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
J-20 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Totally agree with you. Since we already have MiG-15, 19, 21. And MiG-23 is in the making, the only one missing is MiG-17. Especially this version which I posted long ago https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=249861

The UK can be quite difficult as well, which is probably why we got the AV-8B N/A rather than the GR.7 or 9. The J-5 or J-5A would certainly be a great addition to the game.
