Error: can't run Steam

Hi, I'm trying to connect to DCS via Steam. I have Steam open but when I try to run the game, I get an error and get directed to the logs. This is what the log says:

I ran an Steam repair but it still failed to run. How can I fix this?

Just had this issue, it was a Steam Client update preventing the game from opening. 

In Steam click on: Steam > Check for Steam Client Updates

I found that my client was already up to date so went to: Steam > Settings > Account > Beta Participation and removed myself from the Beta. 

The client redownloaded the updates and now the game opens.

 I'm now having the same problem and I have tried everything to fix it to no avail.  I have run Steam in Beta and Opted out of Beta.  I have even tried rolling back DCS to an older version to no avail.  I have tried repairing to no avail.  I am at wits end.

 I don't mean to bump this topic but has anyone fixed their problem with this and if so, what did you do?  It seems my Steam client is not getting the latest DCS beta updates.

Hi, 

things to try. 

Disk check, look for errors.

Antivirus / security, try adding DCS to the allowed list.

try a fresh instal of DCS

I have now the same error. It occured directly after a steam beta client update. Game ran perfectly 10 min earlier!

Same problem, same error.

Steam client is updated, will do integrity check and report again.

 

UPDATE:

Problem is fixed by disabling STEAM beta client. Just use non beta Steam client, it seems that Steam client is the problem. To fix the problem go to Steam settings in account tab under beta participation click change and select optout of beta programs. Once again this is for STEAM CLIENT only, all game betas like DCS open beta will remain intact.

Same problem since yesternight. A fresh install on a more powerful and faster drive (from SSD to NVMe) changed nothing.

If switching DCS from Beta to stable release version and re-starting the computer and restarting Steam won´t change anything, I might need to contact technical support.

Switching from open Beta to stable Steam release solved the problem

Well unfortunately these awesome looking clouds and weather effects from the Beta version are now gone I assume? Or is the cool new weather engine already implemented in the stable version? At least I can fly these illustrious jets again! But I will switch back to Beta version in a few days to have these volumetric clouds and rain effects and other stuff back

I had the same issue and I wished I had read the above before.

I even re-installed DCS!!

The solution posted by "Russiandivxclub" works perfectly well. You do NOT need to leave the DCS Beta, ONLY the Steam Beta

So the STEAM beta not DCS beta?  I might be enrolled in that. If it fixes it, I will be happy enough to leave steam beta to enjoy my fly time again. Will try now and post an update.

 

-UPDATE- I'm back in the saddle again! Back to me stalling on landings and making a fool of myself lmao!

The issue with Steam Beta client is solved in DCS openbeta 2.7.8
