Frankthetank Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 (edited) I've had the DCS F-5 for at least a year now, and I was disappointed to find that the plane can only carry two AIM-9 Sidewinders as far as guided missiles go. It looks like the team is modeling the F-5 as it was used during the Vietnam era; many air force is still use the Tiger and they often equip it with four Sidewinders, four AGM-65 Mavericks, or four AIM-120 AMRAAMS. I downloaded the F-16 module and everything about it is excellent except for the air-to-surface payload. I understand the team is working on Maverick compatibility; it would also be nice to see the AGM-84 Harpoon as an option (Falcon 4 is 2 decades old and it features both the Harpoon and Maverick). The single-seat air superiority F-15C in Flaming Cliffs 3 (no clickable pit) has been one of my favorite DCS planes for years because of its performance (it has a higher top speed and range than the F-22 because it is much lighter although it is not stealth). It would be nice to see an F-15E Strike Eagle with a clickable cockpit and a rear seat like the F-14's (the F-15E's cockpit is more technologically sophisticated than the F-15C's). Communist aggression on China's eastern frontier will likely involve the People's Liberation Army Navy; Taiwan and South Corea both fly the F-5 and F-16, and South Corea flies the F-15K (based on the E model), so it is important that these land-based planes become capable of air-to-surface (especially air-to-sea) missions in DCS (the F-18 and F-14 get a lot of attention, but aircraft carriers may become largely obsolete in the future due to aerial refueling tankers; it is possible for bombers (B-52s, B-1s, and B-2s) and strike planes (including Harpoon-armed F-16s and F-35s) escorted by air-superiority fighters (F-15Cs and F-22s) and tankers (KC-135s, KC-10s, and KC-46s) to take off from Honolulu, Anchorage, or possibly even California and attack ships near Taipei and Tainan as well as airbases, naval yards, and ballistic missile sites (US carriers in the region are extremely vulnerable to China's new carrier-killing missile) across the Taiwan Strait in Taipei and Fuzhou. I don't know how much of the B-2, F-22 and F-35 info is classified, but it would be nice to see an AI KC-46 Pegasus. EDIT: Can somebody move this to the general wish list forum? I did not realize this was only supposed to be Viper-related. Edited March 20, 2020 by Frankthetank

I did not realize this was only supposed to be Viper-related. The F-16 will not be getting the Harpoon as this is not used by USAF F-16C's (which is what ED is making). An F-15E is in the works by RAZBAM, but no ETA. About the F-5E idk, ED usually makes a module of the jet in a certain time frame so yeah it could be an older era F-5E which would mean no Mavs, ARMAAM's and such, but I don't have any info on that. TLTeo Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 The F-5E in the game is not an updated export version, which is why it carries 2 AIM9s and no Mavericks.

Mars Exulte Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) #1 As others mentioned, this is a specific model of aircraft used by the US in a certain year, so if it didn't have it in life, it won't have it in the game. #2 About F-5 not gonna happen, if it does it would be a separate module as it would require a ground up rebuild. None of the stuff required to use those weapons is present in.any way shaoe or form in our F-5. #3 F-15E is definitely coming, so it's not all bad news. No timeframe, they're finishing up pre-existing modules right now. They seem to be showing more about MiG-23 these days, so based on that it's probably going to be after the MiG, but *shrugs* Who knows? Keep in mind DCS is not modeling a generic aircraft based on an given model, like many games ''F-16A'' or ''F-16C''. It is modeling a VERY specific version, typically based on a specific year, country, and production run, in some cases probably based on a specific airplane they have physical access to. Kev2go Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) The basic F5E-3 , and as the type operated by USAF, USAF or USN Aggressor units never used Aim120's or AGm65. If anything the F5E aught to be remodeled into two separate F5E( F5E-3 USAF, and or F5E3 Swiss/ and/ or F5N USN) allowing F5 module to have INS and digital radio set on top of what it currently has but that's about it. Avimimus Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I do wish that they'd include the CRV-7 rockets for the F/A-18... it might not be used in service, but they are cleared for use - and the Canadian CF-188s/CF-18s carry them... it'd be nice to give Canadians the option of having our own stores (as we are too small a country to actually get our own version i.e. things like the additional light on our aircraft will not be modelled).
