I am unable to get the radar to work when using the 802K missile in AG mode. It does not scan anything and is just blank with a very small cone at the bottom of the screen. The radar does not scan the entire area as I have seen in the manual and in training videos. I am sure it is something I am leaving out but cannot figure out what it is, any assistance is appreciated. Also I noticed a dashed line behind my aircraft that starts at Kobuleti airfield where I took off from, sure that is part of my problem also, again just not sure what it means.

SEA2 only scan for moving ships than above a certain speed. If your target is slow or static, use SEA1 instead.

Also, AG radar DO HAVE elevation concept like the AA radar, so lock the point of general location of the target to get the radar antenna pointing to right angel.

The dash line behind you means that's the SPI (default is the current WPT when entering AG mode). I saw your WPT is 00, which you haven't changed, so it should be your takeoff airfield.

Lock any point or lock onto a target on AG radar to define the new SPI.

Thanks for the fast response! My issue is that the radar is not scanning, if you look at the attached screenshot you can see the very small cone at the bottom of the pic. That is all I see, the radar does not scan the entire field of the display as it should. It does not move at all, what am I not doing correctly?

U have the SIL and STBY cancelled, so the radar is working.

And I saw the radar elevation is set to -60 which is its gimbal limit, so it may not scan where U want. Try lock a point in front and let the radar adjust the elevation angle.

And if you're facing the sea, there won't be too much reflection of the ground.

And next time, U can define a WPT that is close to target, select that WPT and use the SLV function of radar make it point directly to the SPI, so U can fast scan a area that U want.

Thanks for the suggestions I will try them, take a look at this screenshot from rudelchw's training video, my radar does not look like this. In this video the radar is scanning from side to side across the display and picking up land and sea, as I have said my radar is not moving like this at all. I will upload a video or trk file so you can see what I am seeing.

As @foxwxl says, you have the radar elevation at -60º, pointing downwards .. that is wrong, adjust the radar elevation so that it is at 0º ... that should clear most of your issues.

Thanks guys for your responses, I guess what I do not understand is the radar elevation being at 60, isn't that what it is in your video? If not please point out where the elevation is, that is obviously what I do not understand.

I know U want the radar looks like it's sweeping, but your radar elevation is -60 which is pointing the radar to the ground just infront of you and you are facing the open sea, so the reflection of ground may not be very obvious.

Open page 153 on Chuck’s Guide, there is a figure that shows the different elements of the radar screen. The elevation scale is on the left border of the radar. You adjust the elevation with the T6 knob of the Hotas.

Roger that checking the guide now, thanks again for all the help! I added a SPI near the ships and was able to target and attack them successfully.

Here is a quick picture

60° Azimuth is the +/-60° sweep the radar does from left to right.

Elevation is how it is pointing up or down.

In your picture the elevation pointer is at the bottom of the scale, IIRC this often happens when T6 has been mapped to a axis i.e. for the targeting pod.

I believe the sweeping changed from showing a specific “line” to only been able to see the “sweep” as the changing texture, so that may explain the discrepancies with certain training material that’s been recorded more then a few patches ago. It is sweeping as long as it’s not in STBY

Ramsay, thank you for the screenshot, it confirmed for me that I am now distinguishing between the elevation carat and the radar azimuth. I was not seeing the carat initially so I was confused about the output I was receiving, thanks again sir!

Excellent point, I was unaware of this. Now my expectation of what I should be seeing is changed, I now know what I am looking for, cheers!
