RedTiger Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I always liked the MARPAT camo scheme on the USMC uniforms, its kinda cool to see a similar scheme on a plane. Interesting that they'd put a camo designed for a uniform on a plane. I'm wondering if it would have the same effect on an object that big that it does on a BDU.

RvETito Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 From pilot.strizhi.ru- demo flight of the NATO-standart upgraded slovak MiG-29's. Those engines needs urgent upgrade, or perhaps they run on carbon :D What attracted my attention is the cockpit- some interesting stuff there: The onboard TrackIR :D 30 years old but still deadly: 1 "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
ED Team Groove Posted March 4, 2008 ED Team Posted March 4, 2008 Track IR 5 on last pic ? :D They run on Diesel Tito! Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
TorwaK Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Those engines needs urgent upgrade, or perhaps they run on carbon :D It seems like engines are burning jet fuel with oil because of they're old. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel Core i7-6700K, @5GHz | Asus Maximus Hero VIII | 2 x eVGA GTX 970 SLI | Kingston Predator 16GB DDR4-3000Mhz | 2 x Samsung 850 PRO 240GB RAID-0 | AOC G2460PG G-SYNC LCD | OCULUS RIFT CV1 VR | THRUSTMASTER HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO PEDALS
Boberro Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 These engines are terrible, in CAC you well know where enemy is, or fumigate his nose :megalol: Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 @Boberro But it smokes so badly only on low rpm IIRC. Polish MiG drivers from Malbork used this disadvantage once as advantage when trained CAC with german(?) pilots to cheat about their position. Smoking isn't so dangerous when going low either. Not so easy to spot it on terrain background.
RvETito Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 It seems like engines are burning jet fuel with oil because of they're old. Not quiet. When oil penetrates the flow zone of a gas-turbine engine and burns it causes white to light grey-light blue smoke. This is purely not fully burned jet fuel which is caused by the poor design of the combustion chamber which is too short. Actualy it smokes the most at military power. But note in some pics in that site that it smokes even at minimum burner which I see for the first time. From what I've seen so far right after the afterburner ignites the smoke disappears. The slovaks have some helluva engines in their planes... "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. I'm curious how old those Mig-29's engines. Btw I suggest you to watch this, especially after 2:04. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m07MTHFg0kk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel Core i7-6700K, @5GHz | Asus Maximus Hero VIII | 2 x eVGA GTX 970 SLI | Kingston Predator 16GB DDR4-3000Mhz | 2 x Samsung 850 PRO 240GB RAID-0 | AOC G2460PG G-SYNC LCD | OCULUS RIFT CV1 VR | THRUSTMASTER HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO PEDALS
