RickB Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I know that you are all diligently working on completing your 1.1 release but I was wondering: Are there plans for a F/A-18 addon or any other Western flyable plane possibly in the future? Is it possible to open your code so that some 3rd party's can mod cockpits and plane development? Thanks for your time
Dmut Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 1) F/A-18? - in next project, probably. 2) no way to open a source code - it's a leading commercial product on the market. By next project do you mean the Ka-50 add-on? If those two A/C were combined in the next add-on, many people would be very happy.
Dmut Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 No, by "next project" I mean a new brand, not LOCKON, with new engine. I think ED is going to develop his own new brand, to be free from UBI. Two addons for LO are in agreement, and they to be released while ED developing a new game. Hope, someone from ED will correct me, if I wrong. SUBS17 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Just a question for ED, any chance for some Terrain add-ons? The detail in LO is awesome, I'm very impressed with it but it would be nice to be able to fly south and visit some other countries. cheers Subs PS someone mention future game in development? AWESOME [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

SUBS17 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Yeah, new countries etc Thats what I meant. eg. UK, France, Germany or maybe even some desert! Israel, Egypt cheers Subs PS you could sell add-on terrain packs [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
VMFA-Blaze Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 From what I've read, new countries might be offered in the future, maybe one of the developers can elaborate on this..... But for now I've heard that we'll have more ground textures which is really a feat in itself.... My understanding is that the artists have done a lot of the rendering by hand since the first build to now .... This is truley extraordinary and with the new damage models this really puts the Sim over the top...... I can't wait to try this on my new system..... ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
Avimimus Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 CF-118 Sounds really good to me! I wonder if the developers would be willing to model the sideways mounted spot light? I am sure I could find support in the RCAF and plenty of help if it is needed!
Avimimus Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 If you need Canadian air-force slang, terminology or voice actors they can be found too!
RedBear Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Yeah, new countries etc Thats what I meant. eg. UK, France, Germany or maybe even some desert! Israel, Egypt cheers Subs PS you could sell add-on terrain packs well it wont on 1.1, as far as i know :? , it just will have the new textures for the actual terrain, (winter summer etc) no new contries added. Maybe on the new sim they will develope that could be possible.
Caretaker Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 New terrain regions will probably have to wait for a new product from ED. Given that it takes a lot of time to model new terrain, I'm personally undecided what the best route would be: extending the current area to model places like Turkey, more of the Caucasus region and maybe part of Poland to the west - or starting with a completely new spot like Taiwan for a change... Any "naval-oriented" product would probably be set in a different region anyway, to allow for true naval operations. Personally I'd die for a Norway/Murmansk theatre like in Jane's F/A-18 or EF2000, but in Lock On quality ;) But for sure all of that is beyond the scope of 1.1, just like the addition of new AI objects or new countries. Avimimus Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Norway...... :o  :) :D :? It would also be interesting to see northern or central europe. One could even include the possibility of nuclear warheads as part of the campaign.
ThirdELTPoznan Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Remember about Poland, I would be really grateful if I could see Polish MiG-29, Su-22 and F-16 :D GROM- Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno Manewrowego

I think making a terrain block that attaches to the current map is the best way. So then you can fly from one area to the next. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

Have to bump this thread for a little question : Since, and it's quite understandable, you seem to not have enough time at hand to model everything you'd like, like in this case terrain, couldn't you rely on the community to help expand this area? I reckon it must be a huge, time consuming task, but probably, with the right tool, not technically impossible for community members. Provided separate terrain files and file format descriptions, tools could be build to create new areas. If a terrain selection feature is added to editor and in-game options, all the best, but that's not even a requirement. This is probably a topic where the community can help without hurting the product nor ED. Whisper of old OFP & C6 forums, now Kalbuth.
