Weird Cloud Glitching

Hey guys, i've looked around, and i can't fine any posts related to this glitch... but please take a look. I got this glitch in the demo version as well as flaming cliffs 1.12.

 

 

I have an Nvidia 8600 GT, AMD 64 4200+ dual core processor, 2 gigs ram, and windows xp. Any suggestions, such as drivers? Thanks!

I have no idea why you're getting this. I'd try different video drivers or maybe even fresh install of LockOn... hm... maybe even DirectX issue... who knows. Were you playing with some files like manually changing some values or maybe installed some cloud mod?

Well, i know lock on has nothing to do with it, because it happened on the demo, as well as after 2 clean installs... i also have the problems with full shadows. I do get an odd Direct3D 7 error in DXDiag...

O.o that is the weirdest thing! the only thing i could think of is video drivers. never seen that before! just try updating all your drivers, even give BIOS a try.

Alright, i guess i should try some drivers... anyone know of any really good drivers for lock on, such as beta drivers?

Hey guys, i just installed new drivers and VOILA! clouds work! WOOT! thanks for the suggestions guys! Now onto getting full shadows working... :)

I have this too and the problem is I have the latest drivers and the problem is still there...

There was a recent thread on one of the Lock On forums about this same issue. I looked for it but could not find it. I believe it may have been corrected by trying a different setting for the Nvidia Texture Filtering performance. High Performance, Performance, Quality, High Quality. Try using each one of those settings.

I had the issue and it was fixed by rolling back to the nvidia 169.21 drivers. If you have a nvidia card anyway.

It is my impression that the "Full shadows" setting has been buggered for Nvidia for quite some time with no known solutions.

I get this problem too, usually after I run LOMAC after some other 3D game. The way I fix it is to make sure that I set the performance preference to "Quality".

red tiger is correct nvidia control panel 3d options select quality not performance.how ever this dosent seem to fix (a10 mavrick display flicker and canopy flicker).actualy my fps doubled as soon as i changed from performance to quality wierd but clouds def fixed.

Yes I am getting the same issue. :-(

 

Core 2 Quad with 4 Gig RAM with 2 GeFORCE GTX 260s. I have tried everything suggested above plus running on just one card and even rolling back the drivers, to no avail. My system run all my other programs (ie IL2, SH4, FSX, GRAW, COD4 etc etc) without any hickups.... any other suggestions?

Have you done any modifications (mods/manual file editing/configuration tweaking) to the game?

no mods nada; system is brand new... have just installed LOCKON 1.12b.....no flickering and smooth as silk if no clouds but when clouds flickering and stuttering...

Try disabling "Allow negative LOD bias" in NVidia Control Panel

EDIT: If this alone won't help, try the "Texture filtering - Quality" selection w/all 4 variants.

Create a settings profile for each game you have. Sometimes loading another game before LOMAC fixes the issue, dont ask me why.

Best advice I can say for this issue, try and force settings AA and AF, from 4X or 8X if required, seems that fixed the issue with my previous 8800GTS. I admit it's a weird bug...

Have'nt got time to read the whole thread (work), but I had the exact same looking clouds.

I reverted back to a year old graphics drivers and all was fine again (I have Nvidia 8600[insert two letters] and AMD.

ive been playing with the latest beta release drivers nvidea today 177.92 so far very smooth,all glitches gone
