RuskyV Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 This also highlights why the beta forum should be a completely separate entity to the main forums....
jasonbirder Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 The DCS model is built on constant updates. When was the last update to the release version of the game?
DW2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 After months of waiting and ED being told of issues when are you actually going to fix the main issue of poor performance . Instead of giving new modules and little bug fixes fix the sim . I have been waiting and watching while updates to fix the major cause of poor performance are far and few between. People have spent good money on this sim and computer upgrades only to be told wait it is coming. You release a piss poor unstable update on the open beta . Have a letter posted by the CEO of ED saying sorry , but still no update to address the main issue. Stop doing module releases and pre releases and fix what is broken. This should be your top priority period. Another week has gone by and all we get is more of the same. We are working on it. Stop saying it and just do it. FIX YOUR PRODUCT.If you dont like it then dont use it, plain and simple. Not everyone is seeing poor performance so it is not accepting all of us. Software development and bug fixes take time and considering the planet is still dealing with a pandemic ranting like a child is not at all helpful to anyone. Either wait until they fix the problems or walk away..

Charly314159 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 (edited) Even if it cannot be said that ED is not delivering (DCS is really an amazing tool), it is difficult not to notice the difficulties they are facing because of the business model they have chosen. Because ED only gets money from modules and because DCS is and will always be a niche product, there is a need for them to keep releasing modules to keep the company going. That could probably be fine with more sales but the issue here is that it is probably unsufficient to have enough budget and manpower leftovers to fix the core issues that have been accumulating over years. The difficulty now is that the core issues seems to impact more and more module implementation in the sim and that the higher and higher hardware requirements probably turns away potential customers and even old customers making things even worse. I am less and less confident about the future if drastic measures are not taken (core rewrite?) Edited April 23, 2020 by Charly314159

I've got news for you, and it's all bad... depending on your expectations. I have been flying the DCS series and its predecessors for nearly 15 years. Compared to other games, the performance has ALWAYS been terrible, and it has ALWAYS been packed full of bugs. However. I realised recently that this is to be expected given the complexity of the series. It's not your average game, being exponentially more complex. As such, I've tailored my expectations to enjoy the amazing thing this game does offer, which can't be found elsewhere. If you're going to love DCS, you'll have to learn to love it as is. After 15 years, I can safely assume things ain't going change. DLEGION Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 sorry but i'm with bandit47 on this one. can be expressed better, sure, but the concept is just good. the core of the sim has serious problems. i really would like to see it fixed and already released modules completed before even thinking to new ones. just my 2 cents.
