hello

i ve already check couple of thread without real answer....

so i m trying:

my spec : i7 7700k, oc to +17%

ssd

nvidia 1080ti

16gb of ram

pimax 5k+ at 120hz, small fov, no PP

playing dcs at 50fps.... but cpu is 30% usage and gpu is 40%....

why fps is stuck when workload are less than 50%

i tried to put cpu and gpu fan at 100%, no change

thanks

Where you get the 50fps? On the ground or above the sea? You get a steady 50 fps? I need your video.

You mean your VR fps 50? I am not sure.

Have you checked about your gpu driver?

That's what you see over and over again. Everyone thinks you need the fastest GPU for DCS in VR. But DCS is simply faulty in VR.

If your GPU and CPU are not really busy, the problem is not there either.

But what has to be ruled out is that only one core of the CPU is limited. But what should not be the case with a 7700K OC (+ 17% = 5.1GHz?).

No guys, that's how VR works. Your 1080ti/7700k cannot keep up with the 120Hz (fps). The VR driver then falls back to 60fps and duplicates the frames to send 120 to the headset. Because of that your gpu/cpu has a lot of power left. In VR you cannot have any FPS number between 0 and 120. You can only have multiples of the Headset's Hz.

Try a lower Hz setting and see if that improves your FPS. You have to find the sweetspot.

You can have a number between 0 and 120. the reason it does stay at say 60FPS on a 120hz headset is the ASW or Motion Reprojection that cuts the frames in half.. if you turn those features off you get your True FPS ingame..

he is getting 50 and I am unsure if the Pimax he has is 120Hz. but it is not half the Hz rate either way so maybe he has ASW Off..

but it could also be a cpu bottleneck. i think 30% is the overall across all cores. could be that one certain thread is hitting the limit.

Try putting more load on the gpu (super sampling, MSAA, heat blur, high shadows, etc). If you see your gpu load increase, and your cpu remain constant then you know you are CPU bound. You can also do the opposite and reduce GPU load and see if your CPU load stays the same. DCS doesn't use more then 2-3 threads, however windows 10 seems to indicate the load is artificially spread over multiple cores when it really isn't. I suspect that's why you see the indicated low CPU load while it's actually CPU bottle necked.
