this is a follow-on to my previous thread...

my youtube demonstrates that the IR-MAV doesn't lock on to a point designated by the TPOD

attached: TRK + MIZ file

(( sorry for no audio on the youtube video - i've gotta go dive into my settings to see why its not recording my voice - i definitely narrated it... ))

also (not-related but related)... switching to FLIR mode it is VERY difficult to actually make out targets from ~15nm and closing

objects appear very faint and almost out of focus ----- anyway to make that clearer?

CCD mode seems to work better

thx

another thing i would like to understand...

lets say you click UNDESIG on the TPOD

*where* does the TPOD start to look??

WHY doesn't it just stay put where it is - and the system just simply wipes the current desig point?

instead all we see is the TPOD moving "somewhere?!?!

it kinda goes out of control

is that correct??

it doesn't seem intuitive

Not sure about the mav behavior but I can tell you that that part is right, in the undesignated state the pod is pointed to -7 degrees below the horizon line.

I tested this mission out a few times (tracks attached) and didn't have an issue with using waypoint designate.

I had a slight issue with locking the SA-6 radar during one pass but after spamming TDC depress a few times it locked up.

One issue I noticed is that you're very close to the target at high altitude in level flight. Try setting up a bit farther away and point more towards your target so the mav seeker head as a better chance at locking up the target.

Are you flying OB or stable?

EDIT: After looking over your track it looks like you're almost on top of the targets, banking the aircraft or way off angle by the time you are ready to commit to a shot. The mav seeker head isn't able to look around like the targeting pod. By the time you're at 10 miles from the target you should have already picked the target and be more or less pointed at it. Hope this helps.

Do use any mods or graphics file tweaks by any chance? I've noticed this can bung up weapons from time to time.

@darc - so you're saying the look-down angle is too steep

and you gotta mash the TDC desig button - several times
