ruddy122 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 TrackIr gets some getting used to but a whole lot of fun. AOA approaches now make sense. Haven’t took the Hornet to the boat yet but I’ve been taking off and landing out of OMAM. TIR5 is fun and now I can’t know how to fly without it. Diesel_Thunder Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 I've used TIR at a friends house in the past, and just recently built my own head tracking setup using OpenTrack and modifying a PSEye camera. It's a low cost alternative to VR for sure, and frees up time spent using the view keys, and HOTAS hats for other things. Makes all the aircraft that much more enjoyable, especially my Mustang. Bunny Clark Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 I can't imagine flying without TrackIR anymore. How do people do that? How did I used to do that? I flew Falcon 4.0 for years in a 2D pit with no head tracking, I mostly just avoided dogfights because looking anywhere but strait ahead was a pain in the ass. Someday I'll go VR. Hopefully around the time DCS is optimized to run smoothly with high resolution VR I will actually be able to afford it  Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. silverdevil Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 posts 1, 2, 3: agreed. i have used in other games before DCS. each of the games improves its game play using Track IR. i just watched a youtube with setup and a downloadable profile. it improved even more. Going from no head tracking to TIR5 is about the same level of difference going from TIR5 to VR.
MegOhm_SD Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 As long as your using TIR and you ever consider going wireless. Has its advantages especially if your head set is wireless. I did it 9 years ago and am still on the same battery. Be sure to duplicate battery type in last post.
