Hello Pilots,

when to do the FCS Bit test when starting cold and dark on the (Super-)Carrier?

On my checklist it is part of "After Engine Start/before taxi". The Problem is, I have to unfold my wings for the test, which in turn is problematic because there is not enough room at the spawn with other Aircrafts.

So when is it done? Right before the catapult, when the yellowshirt tells you to unfold the wings?

Or do you begin taxi forward until you have the room to make the test yourself?

Bets regards

Sebi

FCS bit test can still be done with wings folded.

At least I have done it just after engine startup on a carrier.

The flaps, slats and elevator will go through all the movements.

Same on my checklist, but if you do the FCS Test with the wings folded it will still work, just it won't test the ailerons (they appear with XXX on the FCS Status Page).

IRL you do the FCS IBIT immediately after both engines are online and the hyds have warmed up. The test will complete with the wings folded, indicating GO, but then will return to DEGD until the wings are spread. Make sure you look at the BIT status as soon as you hear the tone, otherwise you may miss the GO indication and think you’ve got an issue.
