How does Aim 7 work for you guys? Are you able to hit anything with it? I use MH version in 1991 war mission and I could hit target with just 1 sparrow out of probably 30 launched. I get “lost” cue quite often and while it was the same for amraams since few updates, the 120 seem to be on track to the target with lost message even before going pitbull.

Radar is in stt and radar lock doesn’t brake.

I launch from 5-9 miles. It got to a point when I visually see the target being ~5 nm from it, target is going left from me. I launch and missile goes right.

I’m unable to provide track at the moment but will do my best tomorrow.

What’s your experience with it?

Also this appears to be happening to me as well. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=276732

Making sure the missile Type is selected correctly, and correct target size, as well as using norm rather than loft when in close range helps a lot to improve my pk

Thanks for the hint. I tried both loft and norm mode, but the target size was left MED even though I was fighting the migs. Will try setting it to small, could be the solution.

I also find that the current AIM-7 model's hit probability to be quite low and lacking, definitely way below the Gulf War statistics. IMO its cause is the rather simplistic radar simulation of DCS. In this case, it doesn't matter how many hours they spend doing CFD if their guidance is rubbish, although I'm grateful that they are apparently putting effort to improve the core mechanics of the game. One step at a time.

The most common version of the Sparrow today, the AIM-7M, entered service in 1982 and featured a new inverse monopulse seeker (matching the capabilities of Skyflash), active radar proximity fuse, digital controls, improved ECM resistance, and better low-altitude performance. It was used to good advantage in the 1991 Gulf War, where it scored many USAF air-to-air kills. Of 44 missiles fired, 30 (68.2%) hit their intended targets resulting in 24/26 (54.5%/59.1%) kills. 19 kills were obtained beyond visual range.

I fly in SP in the provided missions in Caucus and PG maps. For me 7s suck. Any missions that start on the ground or carrier, I hit R for rearm, and get rid of them and install 120Cs. Missions that air start that are armed w/ 7s, I just don't fly.

Maybe someone smart could point out how to make them more effective? Situation: launch from 5 miles. Target is above. Target is at 150 kt at 40000 ft Mig 29. Missile misses. How on earth?

Currently they can be effective if you use them to put your opponent on defensive while you get in range for a fox 2.

Thanks. Let’s hope for an update soon. Not good at all to put things like this in public beta.

Seems all missiles are sort of messed up since the latest amraam tweaks. Spaghetti code strikes once again.

Such a shame. Is amraam usable at least? Haven’t tried it since last update.

Yes, but the radar elevations are messed up currently or in the case of the Viper uncontrollable. Getting the radar to look in the right area right now is a challenge.

Seems they addressed it in the latest update, let’s see and check

LOL! With the latest patch my radar is not picking up just anything :D I have F4 head on at about 10 nm and the radar doesn't see it. HACQ works though.

I’m seeing the same thing. I only tried one mission and the bandit was about 500ft above the deck so I wasn’t sure if that was it.

Edit: It’s a confirmed bug.
