Dmut Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 good to hear you are fine, yamangman. could you provide some details on your fix for those who have smae issue? which CPP runtimes you are using? VS 2003? what's wrong with them? "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." yamangman Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 Well, I thought the problem was solved, but apparantly not. After a complete reformat, and with just Lock On installed with other essential files (chipset/video/sp2/J2RE/Joystick) I managed to play the first mission of each of the four campaigns, but the game just now crashed with the same error on the launch of the second A-10 campaign during loading.
yamangman Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Clearly this is a bug, are the developers/have the developers looking/looked into this?
Dmut Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 as a developer you know, that it is nearly impossible to fix a bug, which developers can not reproduce. AFAIK they can not repeat this issue. "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." yamangman Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 I know how you mean Dmut, but you will also know how I would feel - as a customer - if I bought flaming cliffs and the game still ceased to work so spectacularly. Here is an idea though. It just seems to be any campaign, attemping any mission other than the first, that causes this crash. Can the developers or members of the community provide the campaigns as individual missions, therefore relieveing the immediate issue? If this has been done already can you point me to where I can download it from? If not, can the devs/mods/community instruct me how to do this? Thanks very much.

Hello yamangman There is an utility from ED called cmp2mis.zip, it can break compaign into missions as well as compiling missions into campaign. I can't remember where I found it, but it was freely distributed by ED. If you will not find it, I'll send it to you or upload to some public location. yamangman Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 Thanks for that, it seems to be working perfectly, I can now play those elusive missions :) Here are the campaigns as individual missions if anyone wants them. http://www.asnn82.dsl.pipex.com/A-10A_Campaign.zip http://www.asnn82.dsl.pipex.com/F-15C_Campaign.zip http://www.asnn82.dsl.pipex.com/Su-25_Campaign.zip http://www.asnn82.dsl.pipex.com/Su-27_Campaign.zip Спасибо!

Rodwil100 Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Check over at the UBI forum. It's a problem with the program's code and it is wide spread. Folks are tweeking everything imaginable to get this program to run right. The only hope seems to be V1.1. We'll see. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=38610606&m=2711085752
yamangman Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005 Another thread with another pilot with the same issue. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=38610606&m=5441000562
coldcrew Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 it's an xpsp2 problem. The bug is in that msvcrt dll file, from my investigation microsoft added some sort of super msvcrt dll for this sp2 that overrides all the older ones, probably related to some security fix. I'm really glad it is fixed in the upcoming 1.1, I can finally go past the first two a-10 missions
yamangman Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 Supposedly fixed, no one knows for sure.
Ironhand Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 FWIW, in researching a problem I'm having, I ran across a references to people with motherboards using VIA chipsets having all kinds of crashes in various games once SP2 was installed. There's some sort of conflict between the VIA AGP driver and SP2. I'm at work and don't have access to my links right now. If any of you are using machines with VIA chipsets, I'll try to find the link with the "fix" and you can give it a try and see what happens. yamangman Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 I don't use a VIA chipset. Also, it seems another person is having the issue, posted on the UBI forums. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?q=Y&a=tpc&s=400102&f=38610606&m=5441000562&p=2
