I'm interested in having this, but I'm concerned about the possibilities of damage to peripherals connected directly to the chair (primarily the HOTAS gear).

Does the rumbling on this go through the whole chair, or is it mostly absorbed by the player? What risk is there of shaking over time losening components in HOTAS or degrading solder joints, etc?

Whole chair but mainly my ass.

Thanks Steel Jaw. I'm going to have to think of a different system potentially before buying then. I have all my gear mounted to my chair and really don't want to take the risk of shortening it's life span. Such a pitty - I'd order this today if my setup was different as it sounds like it's incredibly immersive!

I placed rubber sheeting between my peripherals and the rig in order to vastly reduce the vibration transmission. Works a treat and I have the ButtKicker LFE.
the problem with DCS is that it does not output engine RPM telemetry, apart from one aircraft which, I believe, is either the Tomcat or the Eagle..

Not a bad idea. Only concern is that I'd probably need some sort of rubber rings as well, as the vibrations may be transmitted via the bolts that are there. However this does give me an idea in order to dampen vibrations. Thank you.

Just got a Buttkicker, just getting back to DCS.

Have downloaded the Simshaker for aviators software, am trying to purchase the Simshaker sound module but I'm being asked for an activation string.

I'm at a loss as to what this is, can anybody throw some light on this for me?

Is there an alternative to Simshaker withAndres addon?  It's not possible to buy from his shop now because of the sanctions. I get that error message anyway when I want to check out and pay. No payment solution possible  because of the sanctions.

I like my buttkicker in my car games and MSFS 2020, but there I can use the official software from buttkicker. But still no solution for DCS.

go for andre simshaker software, some dayton audio pucks and an amplifier for the pucks..

I'm actually looking at doing this as I have a DIY built rig made from wood with a car seat.  I was thinking of this 4 pack and an amp, but I don't know what amp to use?  https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0073IXASQ/?coliid=I34IC4IV24SBQC&colid=1IOI7O3P1NZ4U&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

if you get this, u will have to put 2 sets in series, and then make them parallel so that total resistance is 4 ohms. the dayton 80 watt amp is ok.. SA80 perhaps

Thanks.  I don't know what any of that means, but I'll figure it out 😉  Do I maybe not need 4?  I'm still trying to figure out what the benefit is of the 'Buttkicker' over something like this, which is 1/3 the price?  Just because it's not DIY, or does it provide a 3 times better experience or something?  I do get that it comes with it's own amp.

I don't see any Dayton SA80 amp?  Is this an old model or something?  All I seem to have readily available here (Canada) is the FOSI amps.

you have to make sure that for what ever number of shakers you get, it has to have a total resistance that the amp can handle. most amps rated from 1 ohm to 8 ohm depend on brand.

read specs before u buy

Thanks, will do.  I'll use that link to match the specs with what I end up getting.

For ultimate immersion get 2, one that runs off the game audio and the other that runs off SimShaker. The nuanced combination of vibrations is amazing. Buy 2 Dayton Audio or AuraSound transducers and 2x 100 watt mini sub amps off Amazon, with some speaker wire you'll be good to go. Get the Nobsound G2 amp with the lowpass filter and filter adjustment knob. They are like 60 bucks. Way smaller and better than the Buttkicker amps.

Do you mean this one, or the Pro?  You need 2 of them?  I see a lot of people using the Nobsound Mini NS-20G with 2 BST-1 shakers:

Yes, that one will work. There is a "Douk Audio" version as well which is essentially the same thing. As I understand it the Mini NS-20G and similar are exclusively "full range" amplifier and lacks the sub filter and filter adjustment which I find comes in handy for dialing out higher frequency vibrations you don't want to feel, more so for the amp doing low frequency game audio recreation. I generally set my low pass frequency threshold higher for the amp doing SimShaker sim specific event duty to get some of the higher frequency nuances coming through like wing folding and the like. Regardless, reviews suggest the nobs on the Nobsound Mini NS-20G offered under various names feel cheap and the lack of frequency control wasn't going to satisfy me after having gotten used to more tweakability at my finger tips. Your mileage my vary.

Did you ever find a solution to the engine RPM problem?  I have this problem too. I mainly fly warbirds, and the egine rumble was great in the Spit. It's stopped working now though. Makes the Buttkicker kind of pointless when all I get is the occasional stall warning effect and some other lesser effects.  Anyone have this issue?

No not here, I have the BK Gamer Plus and it's really good, get all the effects and it's spot on. I just have warbirds including the Spitfire and I use it with SSA with the audio add on.

Cheers for the replies. Turns out my registion key needed to be added back into the SimShaker app for some reason. It's always the silly things that catch you out!
