That sort of stuff is usually not an accident. You may have noticed Russia has A-10s and USA has Ka-50s.

Literally the only reason i can think of for doing that is for creating scenarios for shooting movies in DCS where you need the units close without killing each other straight away?

Heh, and lend lease. All the allies used shermans and grants/lees. The shermans in battle and the grants to hold down the concrete floors.
