LD-10 Seeker View? (Like F-18c HARM TOO mode)

So I was rummaging around the MFD .lua files trying to change the color of the text and background of the displays I noticed that there are some .luas for pod pages.

I managed to find what I believe is the .lua for the LD-10's seeker view, similar to the HARM seeker view in the F-18c when used in TOO mode.

Can the LD-10 be used like the HARM in this way? Can we see what the missile sees, select and Hand-Off the LD-10 to a specific emitter? Is this coming later in EA, or was this added by mistake? I also found .luas for IRST camera (not TGP) and HMD rendering in the HUD folder.

So, Two Weeks™? ;)

It's implemented but disabled in code.

No hurt to prepare something for the future, right?:smilewink:

Oh, the missile actually has a TOO seeker mode? The lack of that feature made me think the LD-10 didn't have that option.

It was my understanding that it wasn't possible to get the LD-10 to fly to a specific emitter.

There is:

* ACT - fly to a waypoint and kill any emitter

* PAS - fly maximum range profile and kill any emitter

* SP - fly to the highest threat emitter currently tracking the aircraft

PAS and SP always aim the highest priority(Main, with cross) RWR emitter,

in PAS and SP mode, RWR information is fed into LD-10,

target is not so random like ACT, you can be sure what the target is.

So are we getting a TOO mode in the future?

Also, how close to the SPI does an emitter have to be for the LD-10 to pick it up when in ACT mode? What is the range for active mode? For example can I use the tpod or ground radar in conjunction with the SPJ output on the HSD to try to direct an area for the LD-10 to search?

Can you explain how PAS works? My understanding was, that it is a simple maddog mode, it flies until it detects a target, then tries to go for it. Is there anything more to it. How does the RWR input affect the missile?

In PAS/SP mode, the RWR highest emmiter's type/AZ/EL info is fed into seeker,

the seeker will search the target by this specified type in the specified direction.

If the radar of emmiter did not stop, the seeker will lock it.

LD-10 have to search and lock the specified emmiter, lofting is not a good idea, emmiter maybe out of scan cone in lofting.

you can designate your SPI with any sensor,

LD-10 in ACT mode will fly to your SPI without emmiter info fed in.

You have SPI range info, so it's possible to loft.

LD-10 will active seeker for emitter search when SPI is within a reasonable range(with the help of LD-10 onboard INS).

SP mode auto-launch maybe bugged, we'll look into it, no need in AG mode.

Anytime you are painted by ground/sea radar, and it's the main emitter(with a cross in HSD), heading to it, launch your LD-10, that's all.

Yes I understand how the mode works, my question was what is the “reasonable range”? Does the SPI need to be within half a mile of the emitter? 5 miles?

I always thought of it as defaulting in PASSIVE mode if there’s nothing at that exact spot, it’s looks for the next closest emitters in it’s seeker field of view, again the lofting profile would hurt you there. I would think the only limit is how much can the seeker see pointing at that spot

So, in my experience on BF, the LD10 is vastly more effective than the HARM. The server has a script to shut down radars if fired on, which basically doesn't happen with the LD10, but happens with the HARM, anyone at Deka have thoughts on that? Its HARMs vs SA11/15 and LD10 vs Hawk/roland.

Could be that when you set up those zones you have to specify the missile. So if a zone isn’t added for LD-10 specifically it won’t work, not if the trigger zone is still only for HARM

yeah that's what its looking like, I'm not familiar with the script.

But overall LD-10 seems 100% effective, which seems not quite right as well.

BF does shutdown on LD-10 launch - I've seen it and complained about the instant nature of it. Also unrealistic.
