As the title says, but is there a reason for this or a bug?

Thanks but how come it detects and displays land based SAMs but not ships?

Sorry I thought you were talking about the RWR yellow triangle indicators. The dotted circle threat rings are stationary pre-planned rings that don't update at all in mission. Because ships move, they don't get displayed because they'd be no way to update them.

The rings display for any land based SAM system that isn't 'hidden' in ME.

Oh I see.. so the plane isn't detecting them, they're loaded into the plane's data with the map:megalol:

Thanks for clarifying.

I thought I'd used them before to get a target on a ship with the Flir. Must have imagined it.

So what does the SA page display in real life?

Shouldn't ships and SAM sites be seen by AWACS aircraft and relayed to the linked aircraft?

Or it doesn't work like that in real life.

Asking cause I really don't know, seems logical for an AWACS to see both SAM and Ship as their radar is emitting.

That would be a help wouldn't it. .

The only reason I looked to use the SA was because I couldn't see anything on the surface radar.

Well if you can see a radar on RWR and your aircraft recognizes it as a boat or a plane or unknown or sam or whatever, it is only logical (quoting spock) to assume an AWACS will see it too, then you can see it on your SA page.

That is my assumption :P

Would really love to know how it works in real life.
