Starlight Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 --- warning: this is a cross-post ---- I simply don't understand why people here strive for getting the best realism possible on this sim, and then they say they want labels, which is the least realistic feature ever seen in a sim. Use your sensors to detect the enemy, and most of all, use your "Mark One" eyeball!

Starlight Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Is there a way to turn laser tag off in A-10 ground attack missions? I was trying to simulate a ground attack without laser-FAC support. thanks in advance
SwingKid Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Is there a way to turn laser tag off in A-10 ground attack missions? I was trying to simulate a ground attack without laser-FAC support. thanks in advance My usual solution is to set the target as a "Mission Goal", without actually assigning it as a target to the user's airgroup. Then it must be destroyed to achieve mission success, but the player should not get any laser designation. -SK
uhoh7 Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 1) ground object visiblity i don't know what rez most are running, but in il2 this has great effect on object viz. I'm running 1600x1200 and objects blend totally into terrain at very short distances. yes i could run the sim at lower rez, but it's a shame to have to do so. Ground object visiablity needs to be improved to make ground attack without icons more approachable for all. This really seems like a no brainer to me. 2) with the direction ED is going, enhancments like knee maps and the abilty to pad ground objects will make the sim far more accessible and fun. Those who do not like these simple features do not have to use them. Some feel I guess that suggestions like these are whining or in the same vein as asking for a two seat cockpit NOW. But i feel the success of a sim is in some degree related to understanding the basic needs of players. Of course sometimes players make unreasonable demands. This is no reason to discount the realistic requests of others and respond to them. This kind of interaction is one component of 1c's success. I would like to see ED just as successfull. all the best, uhoh7 E8600 Asus P5E Radeon 4870x2 Corsair 4gb Velociraptor 300gb Neopower 650 NZXT Tempest Vista64 Samsung 30" 2560x1600
SUBS17 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 How about a moving map display, that would be a very cool addition to the game. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
