Hi,

Since the last update, I am having a very annoying rumbling bass sound from the cockpit

:wallbash: , which is more or less loud depending on engine power applied. I am having the same issue on the F-16. Anyone having the same issue?

Thanks for your help!

Same here, but that noise completely covers the engine, not allowing to hear the power applied. Something similar, although not so bad, happens on the A-10 C, I find the F-16 OK. And now ED don't let us modify the sound files, with that odd new sound "system". VERY BAD AND DISAPPOINTING.

Glad to know I am not the only one having sound issues. I have the same issue with the F-16, a constant rumbling noise varying according to the engine power and it really is annoying. Tried all the different options, such as enhanced afterburner sound option, off/on however this rumbling noise is still here.

Yes, in the F-18 it is still there, but less. Though I agree, still annoying,

as it prevents hearing the reeling down or up of the engine,

VERY IMPORTANT to judge the status of the plane for us simmers.

Oddly enough, I find the F-16 is quite OK...

I wish there were a similar option to reduce that rumbling noise on the A-10.....

You can use your own sound files and modify sdef-files to turn off or made quieter everything you want. Please check Doc/Sounds/sdef_and_wave_list.txt

In real life, in the F-16 cockpit, the engine power is much heard. What is missing in A10 or F18. we try to match reality. I'm sorry for the inconvenience

If you think that the sound is very different from the real one and you have irrefutable evidence, video or recordings - provide them to me please and we will try to correct the sound

Hi, it is not a matter of how exactly it sounds in real life...

As we do not have the same feelings and reference to the outside real world,

as somebody being in a real plane, preventing hearing the reeling down or up of the engine covering it up with some air conditioning or similar noise makes very difficult to judge the status of the plane in its surroundings. VERY IMPORTANT for us simmers.

I have looked into your Doc/Sounds/sdef_and_wave_list.txt, are you sure this refers to the

new stable DCS version.. Very complicated....

In the meantime I have successfully changed the sounds of my A-10C copying the sounds of an old installation to:

C:\Users\MyName\Saved Games\DCS\Sounds

I did the same for the F-18, but in spite of trying several different folder structures such as:

C:\Users\MyName\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\resource\aircraft\FA-18C\Sounds.edc

C:\Users\MyName\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\resource\aircraft\FA-18C\Sounds

C:\Users\MyName\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Sounds

For the F-18 it does not work...

What am I doing wrong? Why is this working for the A-10 and not for the F-18?

Can somebody point me out please?

Hi, it is not a matter of how exactly it sounds in real life...

Sorry, but I can't agree with you :)

But let me help you:

Extract this file Sounds.zip to your DCS folder: c:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\DCS

This will partially remove the interfering to you rumbling sound. You can edit this file in the archive F404GE_Amb_In.sdef by yourself and set gain = 0 to remove it at all.

Yes, if it is about getting closer to reality.

Hi btd,

Thank you very much for your help !!!

Do you have the same stuff for the F-16 ?

For F16 I'm not sure which sound is bothering you. Let's try to change this one:

Extract this file to your DCS folder: c:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\DCS

Sounds_F16_1.zip

This will partially remove the bass rumbling sound from the engines in the cockpit. You can edit this file in the archive F110GE129_Back_In.sdef by yourself and set gain = 0 to remove it at all.

Thanks a lot for the F-16 file. Unfortunately the rumbling noise is still present, with the same intensity. It is a very similar to that of F-18.

Ok, let's try another two files Sounds_F16_2.zip

extract archieve as usual and first edit F110GE129_Amb_InL.sdef with gain = 0,

and if you wont be happy with it, try another file PlaneWindInL.sdef. Change last line of the file too: gain = 0

I hope this will help

Please, turn off the "hear like in helmet" menu option in the AUDIO settings and set all Volumes to 100%. Then record a short video without any changes and with my 3sdef's with gain=0 please.

I can't understand where the rumble exactly...

Hello Kanstantsin, you are most kind, and thank you very much indeed. The F-16 is OK now, but

the F-18..... Let me explain you, in the screeenshot I include you see the wav files which I edited in a previous version of DCS, and did the trick. But now I'm lost... And still, It is difficult to me to believe that the noise coming from a ecm, air conditioning, oxigen supply unit etc.. would be so loud as to cover the noise (music) from the mighty F-18 turbines?

The external/F2 sounds on the F/A-18... well they are no longer working correctly. As soon as you rotate to forward view off of the 3:00 or 9:00 position, forward looking back, there is now no sound at all?

In my headphones, alas, in this video everything is fine, there are no "wrong" sounds. Perhaps the sound of the flowing wind in the cockpit bothers you? Let's try to turn them off one by one.

Sounds_F16_3.zip

extract archieve as usual and try one by one edit new files with gain = 0

Well, you can use your files as before.

Put your sound files into c:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\DCS\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\FA-18\Cockpit

Put your SDEF files into c:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\DCS\Sounds\sdef\Aircrafts\FA-18\Cockpit

It is difficult to me to believe that the noise coming from a ecm, air conditioning, oxigen supply unit etc.. would be so loud as to cover the noise (music) from the mighty F-18 turbines?

the sound of one airplane in the DCS consists of more than 100 sounds (FA18 = 180+ sound files). Believe me, they are done only after a careful analysis of what needs to be done. After careful study of a large number of audio-video recordings, In my opinion, the sound of the engine in the FA18 is really poorly perceptible. But I personally have not flown and have not even seen this plane close. I can be wrong too. Therefore, I always ask - if you have any evidence of audio-video in good quality that something sounds wrong - send it to me by mail or Skype or drop it here and I will definitely correct the errors. If not, you have to trust me :)

Thx for your message!

The rumbling noise is still there in the F-16C. The noise that bothers me is the same as the hornet one. It becomes stronger when I apply full power. If I use headset or headphone the rumbling noise is not present. I only have this rumbling noise when I use loudspeakers with subwoofer.

For the hornet you spotted the correct one.

Thx for your help...
