Max1mus Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Hello, some patches ago the CCM of the SD-10 was changed from 1.5 to 0.08. This was done for it to be in line with the new 120s. However, the new 120s got a new way of calculating chaff resistance, this seems to not be the case with the SD-10. It makes a large turn when notched (instead of using autopilot or just going straight), which by my understanding means that its still using the old formula (R-77 does the same thing, while AIM-54 and AIM-120 do not). https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=245851&d=1598469966 Am i wrong and has it been changed to use the new formula? The old 120C was at 0.1 and the 120B was at 0.2, so according to the old calculation the SD-10 should have a coefficient of at least 0.1. J20Stronk Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Just for shiz and giggles I modded the SD-10 to have ccm_k0 = 0, and the missile still refuses to track properly in pitbull. I tested these against a pretty large target, the J-11 and it seems that the main issue isn't so much that the missile is too vulnerable to chaff. Rather, i believe it's too vulnerable to notching. Here are some .acmi of these tests, as you can see the missile either overcorrects or decides to fly directly to the last known location, in which there is no chaff, once it is notched. Again for a pretty big target, the J-11 had little difficulty evading this missile via notching with virtually useless chaff. (remember, ccm_k0 is set to 0, meaning complete immunity to chaff.) The SD-10 is VERY EASY to notch, chaff is not needed to spoof it.SD-10 notch with Chaff invulnerability.zip
dundun92 Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 RCS has nothing to do with notching. But your right, the missile is to easy to notch, and until it gets the new code/API unfortunately its gonna do this. This is the exact same problem the old 120 had. Eagle Enthusiast, Fresco Fan. nighthawk2174 Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Seems notching may have been adjusted last patch? Maybe in the base code you could try turning it off in the files I think its in the file called missiles_prb_coeff.lua
Kumabit Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 It's a shame for ED that the AIM-120 was getting so much attention but bearly no love for other weapons. SHAME ON YOU ED!
nighthawk2174 Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Ehh tbf it takes time to do stuff like cfd and the AP. There was always going to be one missile that was first and acted as the testbed to make sure stuff works. And well they chose the most popular missile in the game. Others will come in time, ED time that is, and things will improve.
dundun92 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I mean why do you expect ED to work on Deka's missiles? Thats not their problem. Eagle Enthusiast, Fresco Fan. Patiently waiting for the F-15E. nighthawk2174 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Well ED did say they were taking over all missiles
dundun92 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 They havent yet tho, and until then its the 3rd parties responsibility to maintain the missiles, not ED. Eagle Enthusiast, Fresco Fan. Blinky.ben Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) They havent yet tho, and until then its the 3rd parties responsibility to maintain the missiles, not ED. I thought I read a post by a 3rd party that ED do now control all the tracking and sensor data for missiles. I will have a look and see if I can find post again. or ED could answer this Edited September 2, 2020 by Blinky.ben
Chiron Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 They havent yet tho, and until then its the 3rd parties responsibility to maintain the missiles, not ED. nope they already said it and DEKA also said that ED take responsibility of SD-10 anyway that is not our subject here i saw missile being notched without chaff

GGTharos Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 The SD-10 is using the old FM and thus autopilot. Switching to the new stuff is probably not trivial in terms of getting it all adjusted well, but you could in theory copy and paste a block of code in there from another missile to try and make it work and adjust the obvious things like rocket motor parameters and drag/lift parameters. The Aim-120 has already had every bit of attention ED have to offer. Maybe take a tiny break from the Aim family missiles and give the R serious some very overdue attention. I don’t fly any of the Russian aircraft and even I feel bad winning a fight against them. Was never a fair fight from the start I do have to admit tho sense the last update I have noticed a increase to the kill ratio or the Russian family go up on the growling sidewinder servers. Maybe I’m just paying more attention to it now perhaps. Edited September 3, 2020 by Blinky.ben

dundun92 Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Also even with the final upgrades dont expect the Flanker to magically start taking on the AMRAAM cariers head to head. 1980s SARH vs 2000s ARH only gets you so far. Especially when your main tactic is the valley sneaking nonsense. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk Eagle Enthusiast, Fresco Fan. Patiently waiting for the F-15E. Clicky F-15C when?
