Missed devices after formatting Windows

Hi there,

I had to format my computer and reinstall Windows.

Then installed DCS. I have a backup of the diff.lua files with my profiles, however the thing is DCS now only shows keyboard and mouse as my available devices.

No news from vkb pedals, 3 mfds, buddyfox ufc, hotas...

Windows sees the devices and has them listed.

Where does DCS get the USB devices info, from Windows register?

For example I didn´t install Cougar MFDs drivers, but I did install Virpil base software, and the base doesn´t show.

What am I missing?

Couple of things. I would remove the diff.lua files (set them aside safely) and repair DCS. Then put the DIFF lua files back in there.

 

However, that my not be the problem. The problem could be that your USB devices GUID (globally unique ID) is different. Better thing would have been to backup the controller setup and not just the diff lua files.

 

I'm away from the computer with DCS, but when I get there, I'll show you where to find the GUID in the registry.

For 99% it's a problem with USB IDs... You should right click on header of controller name in settings and save it but do it before format :/ not sure you can copy current IDs to update new ones, should be posible.

 

Maybe remove old duff.Lua run DCS save any control setup you should get IDs.

It doesn´t matter if I load the saved profile or not, even without doing it and all devices connected, DCS controls keep just showing keyboard and mouse.

Hotplugging any device doesn´t help either, just the Windows sound and that´s it, no new controller column is created.

I´m going to try uninstalling DCS and installing again.

No clue why nothing shows up.

If nothing else work, try backing up then delete the saved games folder.

Did you renamed the saved ganes/dcs folder, so that the sim can build one anew?

Please, upload your dcs.log file ... maybe it can give us more clues.

do you have a autoexec.cfg file inside yoiur config folder ? does it happen

to have no_device_hotplug = true in it?

 

 

 

I had issues with GUID being wrong myself after switching windows versions

 

the olde lua diff files .... the GUID (the big number string between the { } where equal to X

 

 

Now you re-installed windows, windows in its infinit wisdom has made the GUID {} .... equal to Y

Just to be clear, you deleted the SAVED games folder *before* reinstalling, is that right?

Solved.

Apparently it´s an issue with Steam forcing controllers detection.
