Maybe the Devs are simulating S-300 batteries that have not been issued these missiles.

Maybe the Devs are simulating a combat situation where all those longer range miisles have been fired and the S-300 batteries are forced to use older missiles.

Maybe the Devs are simulating a time frame before those longer range missiles were developed and put into production.

Maybe the Devs....... etc etc.

Another question, how can we make the S-300V work, if we mod the MEINT and add 3d models from Flanker 2.51, maybe some third party ones? Or will the missiles even then be porked? How about the Dzhigit? S-300V please :|

Why s-300 lunchers dose'nt use the 48he2 missiles that have longer range than 5v55

Hey, are you talking about the S-300 FM System, and here especially the 48N6F missile ?

Translation for you: The missile 48N6E2, is only for the naval

variant of the S-300F "Fort". The carrier is the missile cruiser "Moscow".

This is not really correct as the S-300F already IS the naval modification of the S-300 complex, there are no land based S-300F systems (just to clarify).

Okay you capitalist pigs, read and learn the basics (the specifics are still classified).

The first system of the S-300 line was the S-300PT system (S-300P, towed) which entered service in 1978, this used the 5V55 missile which emloyed a traditional radio command guidance. In this modde the missile flies to a predetermined point on autopilot, and once reaching that point the illumination and guidance radars begin to track the target and send guidance commands to the missile.

The 5V55KD missile offers improved range and a semi-active guidance mode, this to inclease the accuracy (I assume you know the principes of semi0-active tracking).

The 5V55R missile also employs semi-active guidance, but also has track via missile (TVM) guidance, in which both the coordinates of the missile and target are measured by the tracking and search radar on the ground, and then compared to the coordinates produced by the 5V55R missile. By comparing these three coordinates the system has a high jamming immunity.

The development of the 5V55 missile started in the second half of the sixties and employed the most progressive technologies of the time. It has a solid fuel engine, operating for 8-10 seconds.

Start mass of the 5V55KD: 1480 kg. Maximum range: 47km

Start mass of the 5V55R: 1664 kg. Maximum range: 75km (other sources state 90 km)

In the second half of the eighties the complex was modernised to S-300PT-1A

S-300PS

The S-300PS (self propelled version of the S-300P) entered service in 1982, the export version is known as the S-300PMU. It uses 5V55KD and 5V55R missiles

S-300PMU1

Development began in 1985, in 1990 the first production started, entered Russian service in 1993. This one has enhanced engagement characteristics, targets travelling at up to 10000 km/h for target designation and 6450 km/h for engagement by the 48N6 missile (48N6E for export). Range for aerodynamic targets: 150 km Strategic cruise missile flying at 6-100m; 28-38 km. Ballistic missile: 40km.

The 48N6

Single stage, single mode engine with a burn time of 12 seconds, maximum speed is 1900-2100 m/s, after the rocket has burned the missile coasts on inertia. Weight of comtainer+missile: 2580 kg, ejected missile weight: 1900 kg

Warhead weight: 143 kg, missile length: 7.25 m

S-300F

The first concept work started in 1969, but had a lot of troubles, and the first test version was installed in 1977 on the "Azov", project 1134B class cruiser. The government tests were very slow, taking almost 6 years to finish. The testing ended in 1983 on the nuclear Kirov cruiser, and at the beginning of 1984 it entered service on pr. 1144 and 1164 classes.

The nuclear powered 1144 class had the B-203A launchers, with two pairs of 6 drums with 8 missiles each (96 missiles total). And the pr. 1164 had the B-204 launchers with 2*4 drums (64 total), which is the 'Moscow' in lomac.

Oh, the missiles used, oops...

The naval version of the S-300 initially used the 5V55RM missile, which only differed from the 5V55R in terms of connectors with the container. Around 1990 the 48N6 entered service, and the complex was renamed to "Fort-M", the maximun distance was 150km, however, the designation system in 1993 only allowed for a maximum engagement range of 93 km.

The 48N6 has a directional warhead (which creates a concentrated energy wave in one direction), for this the missile rolls in the direction of the target before detonation (to kill ballistic and high speed targets).

Yeah, there is still the S-300V for the Army, but you know what, I'll write some facts.

The testing was done in 1985-1986 and entered full service in 1988, the partial system, with the 9M83 missiles entered in 1983 though.

9M83: for planes, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles of the type "Sergeant" and "Lance".

9M84: for warheads of "Pershing-1A" and "Pershing-1B".

Then some rambling about the radar systems, which is really interesting, but 3 pages long :(, so basically it detects the warheads of Pershing-1s at 175km, tracking at 140 km.

Oh, my source: Encyclopedy of fatherlandish missile weapons 1817-2002 (litt.) by A.E. Taras, 2003. ISBN: 985-13-0949-4

So back to my question, where can we get models to enable the S-300V in lomac?
