Yurgon Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 There’s a spot straight ahead and a few degrees below the TGP’s centerline where the optics have to rotate in order to keep the TGP on target. I don’t recall the exact value, but it’s easy enough to test with the depressible pipper. I don’t know if this is realistic, but it kind of feels like it’s done on purpose in DCS. It happens mostly when turning toward a target in a shallow dive. So, don’t engage targets in a shallow dive.
icemaker Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 It's related to TGP optics gimbals that are not physicalli able to manouver in some positions so the TGP moves the optics to a more "comfortable" position.
ATD123 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I read through the topic... Really? This is intentional? I about threw my quest 3 across the room.

I know the feeling. Good habit in the A-10C II module: With TGP as SOI, TMS Right Short, TMS Right Long, China Hat Forward Long. Boom, the problem basically disappears. Well even if it doesn't, you'll still have a markpoint in the general target area and can slave all sensors right back onto it. Also: If at all possible, attack targets visually instead of shooting at the TGP symbol in the HUD. The TGP is a fantastic tool, but when it gets in the way (or rather: out of the way ), remove it from the equation. 1

This stuff takes a bunch of reps to get right..... Since you brought up the shooting visually... I don't know if you use PCVR but in my situation, the HUD is super cluttered right around the TDC on the HUD, and it's so pixelated that theres really no chance of visually verifying. Maybe if I wove in the zoom at the same time? Maybe I can set up my voiceattack and get a screenshot of it, but it's quite difficult. Is there a convenient way to selectively drop everything but the TDC for a moment? Would be nice if it happened (almost) like the first stage trigger.

You mean virtual reality? I don't use it, but I heard that the first generation of VR headsets had a low resolution and in turn a pretty mushy image and many players said they only accepted this downside because of the added immersion of a 3D environment. As far as I've heard, later and current gen VR headsets have very good resolution, but obviously require a pretty powerful PC to run at good FPS. 20 hours ago, AllThatD said: Is there a convenient way to selectively drop everything but the TDC for a moment? There's the STANDBY-HUD that shows nothing but the depressible pipper (F-4 Phantom style) and it can be activated with just one switch on the Armament Hud Control Panel, but it gets rid of everything useful, including TGP marker, SPI indication and the TDC, so probably not something that would help you?

You can go into the IFFCC menus and turn on the occlusion options so that when the gun cross is put over the TGP diamond, or TD container those symbols disappear so you can put the pipper on the actual thing you are trying to shoot. that's about all you can get though. 1
